So ya'll thought you could laugh at the micro tank

Kinda surprised that this tank is only 12-14 gallons. Guess it isn't as big as the pictures make it look. I am building a cell that looks much like that, but it is 42 gallons. I have the mock up almost done. :)

My RCR "DPE-962X" 8500 RPM -1500HP Engine Build *lots of pics*

Careful Ron, or you're gonna pizz some people off with this practicality talk. They may even ban you....oh yeah, guess that isn't really a problem for you! :)

My RCR "DPE-962X" 8500 RPM -1500HP Engine Build *lots of pics*

Sorry, maybe I'm not following here. Why would sourcing larger pistons be an issue? Just have them custom made to spec.(?)

My RCR "DPE-962X" 8500 RPM -1500HP Engine Build *lots of pics*

I don't know what Alusil is, but I have used Nik-o-sil cylinder plating before, and it works REALLY well. Maybe just change the plating material? I have had cylinders replated with this, but it was rather expensive. Around $300 a hole. Lasts a long time though.

    RCR's Next car should be.....

Looks a lot like the closed cockpit version of a Lola. The front "pods" are much the same. One could stand on the undertray between the fender and the drivers area in order to work in there. Very cool, no doubt, but not really a car designed for a "hobbyist". That's a pretty serious racing...

My RCR "DPE-962X" 8500 RPM -1500HP Engine Build *lots of pics*

Why not a Subaru? Cheaper, but still the flat setup, and can easily make 400-500 HP.

    SLC exhaust options

Agreed. The back of the car is pretty short, but flip a slightly smaller double inlet/outlet muffler flat, and put it mounted above the tail of the gearbox, behind the frame, and it looks like it MAY fit. I was going to try an "off the shelf" unit, and then modify it to fit in the space, if...

    SLC exhaust options

What a great idea! I wonder where I have heard that before? Thanks for adding a picture that relates specifically to my post. Did you even care to READ the thread before replying to it?

    SLC exhaust options

Here's a pic where you can see not only the exhaust setup like I am talking about, but also how much room the street tail adds under the body. http://www.gt40s.com/forum/rcr-forum-rcr40-slc-p4-mkiv/33197-superlite-eagle-25-hour-thunderhill-2010-a-3.html Sorry, that didn't exactly work, but...

    SLC exhaust options

What about running the secondaries under the half shaft, up next to the trans, through crossover muffler like the one I referrenced, and then out the back? You could place the muffler behind the frame and still above the trans. The SLC at TH had, IIRC, three mufflers on each side secondary...

    SLC exhaust options

Seeing the SLC that was at TH with the street car tail, I bet it WOULD fit, but I'm sure Fran would know for sure. Appears to be plenty of room for this in a GTM. Race tracks are requiring lower and lower noise levels each year, so even if you are going to just track the car, you may want to...

    SLC exhaust options

    Securing the gas tank

Interesting how the term "anal" is in every one of those words! I am a Mechanical Engineer...and get sheot for it all the time! Cell bladders rarely go bad with continual use. It's when they sit for long periods that they go bad. Just giving you a hard time, that's all, as it...

    C5 Corvette Ball Joint Taper?

I have made the 930 adapters that are mentioned in the post earlier, but I am not a vendor so I can't advertise for them. If you PM me I will tell you a couple different suppliers that you can buy these from.

    Securing the gas tank

What does it really matter how he chooses to attach it, as by the time THIS car is drivable, we'll all be driving the flying cars! Sorry, but just had to as this whole, "build the custom gas tank for service in Iraq" thing is just too funny. You don't happen to have a degree in...

    Roberts RCR 40 MK II

Nothing personal here but,...... HOLY CRAP!! LOOK AT THE SIZE OF THAT PAN!! I am assuming that THAT pan was not used in the car? That things gotta be over six inches tall!

    Check out this LS intake!

The issue is leakage and how to deal with tube expansion that occurs when the headers go through the heating and cooling cycles that they do everytime the engine is run. Slip fit connectors were the easy solution for carbed engines as there were no sensors in the exhaust. Easy to install and...

    Check out this LS intake!

When it comes to areas of aero dynamics, it is best to just try it and measure the results as different combinations will perform differently. This is relatively easy to do with engine intake parts and a dyno, but doing it with aero affecting parts like bodywork is a whole nother story. That...
