    SL-C delivered

Well, at least you aren't running one of those V8 oil sprayers! I am currently running some events in the GTMR with NASA. Why don't you stop by sometime and we can chat. I will be running the Oct 10-11 NASA races at Buttonwillow in the Super Unlimited class. Again, the car looks great. I...

    SL-C delivered

Looks great. By the looks of the cage, you are planning on racing it? It would be great to see the GTM and the SLC on the same tracks during races. What series/sanctioning body are you planning on running?

    Attaching SLC Windows

I have used the 3M VHB product before on chassis applications and it tended to yellow. Do they have a black UV resistent color available? Remember, if you paint your window edges black and use adhesive, the bond will only be as strong as the paint is adhered to the polycarbonate/glass. Prep it...

    Adjusting control arm heim joints

IMHO, that is NOT a good idea. The motion from the suspension will work on those threads and could lead to eventual failure. At the least it will lead to inconsistent settings. Shift things around a little if you have to, but don't leave a rod end without a jam nut installed.

    Adjusting control arm heim joints

Well, you might think it's lame, but that is how it is done. Pretty much that way for any race car that doesn't use left/right threaded links. It may be a PITA to get adjusted right, but it is solid once it is done. As oposed to the FFR GTM that uses the stock Vette eccentric bolts and......well...

    Healthcare

Couldn't agree with you more Bill. The good news is that it appears people are waking up and getting really angry with this guys agenda. If that continues and some sense is returned to our government because of it, then this first 100 days was worth it. I am not suggesting that the republican...

    Crazy Rally speed Machines

Have to agree with you on that. I watched a race a couple years ago where it was still raining in some sections and they weren't slowing down one bit it appeared. Had a guy from my high school class run in that thing. Definitely craziness. BTW- Why has the title to this thread been changed...

    Crazy Rally speed Machines

Re: Crazy speed machines The super modifieds halve to be right up there. They used to come to our small 3/8 mile asphalt track and average well over 100 MPH, meaning straight away speeds well in excess of 120. For comparison, IIRC, our street stocks averaged about 85-90 MPH and the modifieds...

You know what the SLC needs....

I was thinking that dry sumping and leaving it in the "stock" position would give the room needed. No doubt heat will be a factor, but probably able to be dealt with. This is a pretty high air flow area when done accordingly.

Familiarity with GM circle track 525 engine?

Here is an excellent article about the LS3. This link is courtesy of a poster on FFCobra. It's the most detailed I have seen and should answer any question you may have about how the LS3 is built.  - Camaro LS3

OK Randy, you got it. Just so you know, EFN and I have shared a couple PMs and I believe we are both simply joking here. That is evidenced by the use of the :)s that were lacking in most of EFNs previous posts. I think we are on the same page now, and there is nothing but good fun going on...

I'm beginning to think I cannot take this any more...

I have said roughly that from the beginning. In both Iraq and Afghanistan we should have struck hard, struck fast, showed no mercy, and gotten out. The message should have been, "You/your people attacked us. When that happens, we will retaliate ten fold. Don't attack us again or it will increase...

    Scary stuff

Spyder- I have the same attitude as you....I think. That's why I don't care if it comes from a GT40 thread, a FAUX News blog, or a MoveOn website, so long as I am searching for the truth, at least as I see it, then the motivating source really makes no difference. I didn't mean to push you...

How about you bring your "big e-weiner" car to the track and we will see who the big winner is, and who the big weiner is! :)

Familiarity with GM circle track 525 engine?

I am probably going with an ARE setup. I have been modifying the the vent system and putting on a couple other items for better cooling. Still looking into possibly using a Daley four stage pump with an ARE pan. Talking with a few people trying to determine how much, if any, vacuum the LS3...

Familiarity with GM circle track 525 engine?

Again, my entire package for the LS3, harness, and pedal assembly was about $7000 about six months to a year ago. If you get the package deal from Fran there is no question you will have plenty of HP for well under $10k. Maybe even modified to what you want for under $7500. But then, I guess...

Carbs can be very expensive and a little tempermental. I have seen people spend thousands on a carb. I want to keep costs down, stay on pump gas, and have the ease of injection. I just don't see how you can beat the bang for the buck of a crate LS3. After driving a 2000 pound kit car with...

Familiarity with GM circle track 525 engine?

Yep, that's the one I was thinking of. It does have a different pan on it also that I forgot about. My option is to buy the cheap one, put a cam in it, dry sump it and maybe change the headers and I should have a reliable 500+ HP race engine for under $10k. We shall see.

Familiarity with GM circle track 525 engine?

Check the specs on that. I believe you will find that the only differences between the basic LS3 long block with the injection is that the intake is changed out for a carb intake and the cam is changed. If you are gonna do a different setup anyway, then the cheaper model will probably do just...

if i were to purchase an SL-C

I don't disagree with anything said here. Even by EFNFAST. There are many temptations along the way that you can justify to yourself by saying, "well, it's just another $100", but those things will REALLY add up. The only way to do a "budget" build is to actually have a budget and do...
