I heard from a little birdy that the correct bearing actually between the two in my picture. But I can't verify that since I haven't run it yet. Hopefuly I can report positive news on mine after this coming weekend.

    016 Clutch Bearing

That is exactly what I thought (I also got the disk and pressure plate from RF). I knew it looked wrong, measured it, became sure it wrong, but tried to install it anyway. No go. Retreived the one off the gearbox from Germany (thanks to you), and took it my local Audi dealer to order a...

    Metal prep for painting

I would not use acid after sandblasting the steel. The one guy has it right, put epoxy on direct to blast. A good blast should remove all rust. All the other stuff is hype and marketing (one and the same).

    016 Clutch Bearing

Just in case anyone else got the clutch bearing from RF like I did, and has the 016 gearbox, the correct bearing number is 088-141-165A, not 091-141-165B. The 091 is too tall. I've included a picture the new (wrong) bearing as supplied by RF as compared to the old (correct, replaced with new...

    The OLIVER thread

Re: Oliver\'s Porn Russ, my kids are in 4th grade and 6th grade. I would like to think that some of this is something my family can share together as I approach the 4th year of construction. Maybe not. Using your logic, is it then acceptable to start a thread about the best oral sex...

    seat belt mount

I opted to spend more money for a lap belt that would accept clip-on ends and orders more standard eyebolts from Simpson, so no more custom parts. At this point in time, what another $125?

    Roaring Forties #52

Re: RF52 Hilly, he took about 1/4" off both lower corners, then just smoothed all the other edges out. Went through about three or four 80 grit sanding pads. I did test fit the gearbox once, but it was a while agao and can't remember how it lined up. I can't cheat the motor any further...

    Bonding windscreen

I am not an expert, but the guys who just did mine said they did not recommend using sealant only. They tossed out the rubber supplied and did a three step process, 1) a rubber trim piece around the fiberglass (very thin), then a primer followed by Dow "Betaseal U-418HV)" urethane adhesive and...

    Roaring Forties #52

Re: RF52 Glass in, hopefully gearbox in this weekend. Had to do some sanding on the glass, total time about an hour and a half. Still fighting a guerrilla war with air in the cooling system.

Public update on current RF legal activities

Re: Public update on current RF legal activies I'm mulling over the possible permutations in meaning of your name change. You must have been something of a rollercoaster ride for your parents. And of course, it meant in the nicest possible way from someone who's daughter describes him as...

    Shift Linkage

Dan, I was assmbling the shift lever today and was reading the manual which states "nut should face into cockpit which will give the correct phasing of spline flat at rear of #1 rod". If my vision is correct, yours would seem to be backwards of what the manual recommends. Can anyone else chime in?

Help for those RF40 owners at the build stage

I tightened the nut to 20 ft lbs while rotating the wheel. Then back off about a half turn, then re-tighten to 20 in lbs.
