I would not use acid after sandblasting the steel. The one guy has it right, put epoxy on direct to blast. A good blast should remove all rust. All the other stuff is hype and marketing (one and the same).

Just in case anyone else got the clutch bearing from RF like I did, and has the 016 gearbox, the correct bearing number is 088-141-165A, not 091-141-165B. The 091 is too tall. I've included a picture the new (wrong) bearing as supplied by RF as compared to the old (correct, replaced with new...

I opted to spend more money for a lap belt that would accept clip-on ends and orders more standard eyebolts from Simpson, so no more custom parts. At this point in time, what another $125?

Re: RF52 Hilly, he took about 1/4" off both lower corners, then just smoothed all the other edges out. Went through about three or four 80 grit sanding pads. I did test fit the gearbox once, but it was a while agao and can't remember how it lined up. I can't cheat the motor any further...

I am not an expert, but the guys who just did mine said they did not recommend using sealant only. They tossed out the rubber supplied and did a three step process, 1) a rubber trim piece around the fiberglass (very thin), then a primer followed by Dow "Betaseal U-418HV)" urethane adhesive and...

Dan, I was assmbling the shift lever today and was reading the manual which states "nut should face into cockpit which will give the correct phasing of spline flat at rear of #1 rod". If my vision is correct, yours would seem to be backwards of what the manual recommends. Can anyone else chime in?

I tightened the nut to 20 ft lbs while rotating the wheel. Then back off about a half turn, then re-tighten to 20 in lbs.
