    Just a thought....!

Tony, I think the bigger issue is time, not miles. Many people have the engine installed for a year or two before they get to first start. Kind of the opposite from my daily driver where I always exceed the warranty milage long before the time.

    Mark Reid RCR-40 Build

No, actually mine was a bonehead move on my part. I used an inverted flair fitting where I needed a -3 AN in the clutch line. Once I replaced it, all was good. No leaks in the brakes, but I learned my lesson several cars ago to crank down on the fittings for a leak free seal.

    Mark Reid RCR-40 Build

Bill, I plan on taking the same approach you did. A piece of sheet metal bent and welded. Then covered, probably in leather, but I need to try a couple of options first. Any tips or suggestions?

    Mark Reid RCR-40 Build

I also installed the shifter, cables, evaporator, and dash: My coupe will be ready to come home after its traumatic experience next month and I want to simply swap it with the GT40 to get the body and paint work done. Ron figures it will take him about 6 weeks. I would love to be...

    Mark Reid RCR-40 Build

I bleed the brakes and clutch today. I found this set up on the Internet almost 10 years ago. You attach the air hose to a tire valve stem: Fill the master cylinder and bleeder tank half full of clean fluid, select the correct adapter for your master cylinder (mine are Wilwood and the...

    RCR Chassis #14 Ron McCall

Those are what you call "don'ttailgateorloseyourpaint" pipes. You have to post a video with a decent sound file. Actually, start it up and take it to 7000 rpm so I can hear them here in CT!

    Mark Reid RCR-40 Build

Lucas is truly the prince of darkness! I had my last Lucas experience with my TR6, no more. Plus, they don't make the variety of switches I need or prefer. I wasn't as productive this weekend, but did get the a/c evaporator and dash installed. I also got my longer shifter cables from...

    Replica MkI body sources

Rick, drop the "y" in Bill's email address. I got burned on this before! I've gotten parts from him before and they are great quality.

    ERA

ERA is about 30 minutes from my house and I spent a good bit of time looking over their GT40 and picked up a build manual last time I was up there when my uncle picked up his Cobra. Their product is topnotch and a very close replica of the original. I ended up buying an RCR for three reasons...

    dashboard switch labels

Here is what I did on mine. A guy from the ffcobra forum had them made to my spec (size, center hole, and lable):

    Ron McCall's GT40

Don't even ask what my mom did with my comic book collection...but it was me who burned the hot wheels, shot all the G.I. Joes with my .22, and traded my baseball cards for an HO scale railroad (later detroyed ala Addams Family).

    '65' 289 Query/info...?

Paul, Those are definitely hydraulic lifters which makes me question the redline. They probably only ran it to 5500, becuase that was the point that the lifters couldn't keep up. Even with bigger valves and say ported heads, it is hard to estimate HP or TQ without the cam specs. Lastly, HP...

    Special 40's

The mk1 has particular visual appeal to me, but it is the whail of the engine at speed through 180 headers that I find hypnotizing. Also, when my wife came into the garage and saw the engine installed for the first time she said, "Wow, that car is all engine!" That just reinforced my...

    Postal request.

Paul, I travel to London at least once a month. I am over next week, but not back agian until 25 March. I'm more than happy to bring them over with me on one of the runs. The irony is that when I lived in London, I helped a friend get a set of seats for his car from London to Montana. Let...

    Congestion Charge

It's currently not all of London and the area is clearly marked with red lines, signage and a "C" symbol. The funniest thing is that it is on the honor system. Most Americans believe that means if it is BS, you don't pay. In the UK though, there are traffic cameras and mobile detection centers...

Please tell me it's going to get better!

Pete, That episode was on here (US on BBC America) tonight and it was not one of their better efforts. I agree that it is more an entertainment show with a couple of cars thrown in for good measure. I still love the show, but I wish we got the newer episodes. I'm in London once or twice a...

    Political "debates" and me.

I'm with Dean on this one. I used to read them and now don't even open them. Just my way and one of the beauties of this forum. Participate in any way you want - create, read and write, read only, ignore. I personally prefer the great car wisdom of the folks on here, not their political views.
