    Sean's RCR GT40 build

Check out Jason’s build. He did a really nice job on his. http://www.gt40supercharged.com/gt40_interior.html Post in thread 'Jason's Coyote Powered RCR40 Downunder' https://www.gt40s.com/threads/jasons-coyote-powered-rcr40-downunder.26333/post-371055 I’ve seen a couple others do it similar to...

    Sean's RCR GT40 build

Thanks Bryan. After revisiting your build showing it painted I think I will do the same thing. The lines looked perfect on that car. This will most likely open up the doors enough to keep it off the spider.

Not understanding the delivery process, looking for help.

Ian I had a similar issue with them. I ordered mine in Sept 2020 with a quoted delivery of January or February of 2021. I understand this was at the highlight of the Covid supply chain disruptions so having the delivery date push was something I expected. I paid in full at the time of order...

Still have some tweaking to do but having the body gaps done makes a huge difference on how the car is looking.

I’m actually thinking 1/8” is on the large side of what’s needed. Guess I can make a more educated decision if the need to be bigger when I get to the primer stage. I feel 1/4” might be a bit big for the doors and clamshell though.

Yes sir all seals are in place including the clamshell seal.

    Sean's RCR GT40 build

I’m still on the fence with the eyebrows. I have a set but not sure if I really like how they look. Unfortunately they don’t cover the area of the door that’s rubbing. I’m debating something that ties into the roll bar to hold the doors in place as I have seen others do. The part that hits is...

    Sean's RCR GT40 build

Working on body gaps today. I built up the clamshell with fiberglass then smoothed it out with body filler to make the gap touch the spider. My plan is to sand down the gap to 1/8”, having it built up this way gave me a good surface the whole way around and should only need to take material...

    Sean's RCR GT40 build

I think I’m finally at a point of alignment that I can start adjusting the gaps. I’m pretty impressed of how things have lined up thus far. The only gap I have sanded at this point is the front of the doors as they were a 1/2” too long. Nothing else has been touched yet

I decided to go ahead and get the parts I don’t want to do out of the way. I started manipulating the spider to fit everything better. Used a lot of clamps a lot of weights and a lot of heat. I now have things moving in the right direction and the doors are getting close to fitting. The...

I put the windshield back in to measure. Centered up it’s ~1/4” top and bottom and closer to 1/32” on the sides in the middle of the A pillars, top and bottom of the A pillars are closer to 1/4” I will see if anything can be done on the A pillars first, I f not I’ll take it to a glass shop to...

    Sean's RCR GT40 build

I will plan to put it back in and measure. I want to say it was around 1/16” on the sides and close to 1/4” on top. I was mainly making sure it set in and the curves were correct.

Next up was checking the fit of the windshield. I’m glad to see it fits perfectly, I’ve hear others had issues with this so it’s a good feeling that this is now a box checked off. It was exciting to see the glass on it for the first time!

    Sean's RCR GT40 build

Finally back working on the GT. Can’t you tell I love fiberglass body work? I’ve been procrastinating the body lines because of this, but it’s got to be done. Saving the doors for last. Had to heat up the single nostril to get a lot of warps out of it and bend it a bit to clear the...

Just waiting for some stickers and upholstery to redo the seat. But she is looking pretty good. Also found a nail style for the wife. She doesn’t think they look too good.

Been working on a side project this week. Still waiting on a few pieces of trim and the other 2 tires to finish it off. But over all it’s looking pretty good.

    Gulf/golf cart?

We went ahead and pulled the trigger to make a “Gulf Cart”. It’s starting to look a lot better than it did when I got it. Had a lot of structural things to fix due to leaking batteries, went ahead and converted it to Lithium while I was at it. I forgot how much I “loved” body work. Got the...

    Gulf/golf cart?

it’s funny. Anytime I search google for anything gt related I always find it on this forum. I was searching for gt40 golf carts and here I am. Im thinking about doing exactly this to a golf cart we picked up cheap that is in need of a paint job.

Finished off the hold downs for the exhaust pipes today. I decided to go with Randy’s idea of bolting them down vs the springs. I found I was able to hide the tabs so that they don’t stand out. While I had them off, I went ahead and prepped them to be sent to Jet-Hot to be ceramic coated.
