Can any of you explain (in simple language, please!) the effect of the taper and length of the trumpet - I think I've been told that a longer trumpet will yield more torque, although if this is the case there's presumably a trade-off.
I'm just wondering what the downside of a pronounced taper...
Hi Peter D,
My understanding is that, with the surface area of a hemisphere being twice that of its base circle, provided you use mesh with at least a 50% open area you would wind up with unrestricted flow.
Using flat mesh as you suggest, whilst easier to fabricate and fit, you will restrict...
Hi John,
Please add my name to your list of potential customers.
Forum member "Doc Watson" was pursuing a similar idea over here in the UK - see his thread GT40 Engine Build Mirage Chassis - but I'm not aware that he's yet reached a conclusion. Might be worth your while touching base with him...
Hi Julian W,
My undersanding is as follows:-
You apply a force of, say, 100lb through your right Gucci loafer to your 5:1 pedal, thus conveying 500lb to the MC. A MC piston of .8" diameter has a surface area of approximately 0.5sq" and so you will generate 1000psi in the brake line. A MC of...
Hi Brett,
The harness bar assembly of my GTD40 comprises a steel bar 910x30x6mm fitted immediately below the level of the bulkhead window trim and into which are fitted the harness eyebolts at 250mm centres. This is bolted through (2 @ 8mm and 2 @ 10mm dia) a 25x25x4mm steel angle section...
Hi Ron,
Have just upgraded my support level to Premier and would be delighted to receive a crystal as and when. Absolutely no rush - next time there's a group shipment to the UK, or someone with one in their luggage is just fine.
May I thank you Ron, and the other admins/mods, for the huge...
Hi Brian,
Sorry, I've only just seen your posting so hope this reply is not too late.
The wiper arm on my GTD is approx 340mm from end to spindle centre, the Peugeot (405???) blade is approx 560mm long and came with a 260mm long multi-jet spraybar. The latter is highly recommended. All works...
Hi Ben & Tim,
Many thanks for your advice. Unchecking the Ad Blocking/Skyscraper ad's appears to have cured the problem.
I'm in the UK - one reply from the USA and one from Australia. A shrinking world indeed.
Happy Holidays.
Jim
Hi Folks,
My ZoneAlarm Pro firewall is blocking some images - for example, with it active I cannot see the image in Lynn Larsen's "Ronnie Spain's Book" posting today, but can see that in Dave S's posting in "Fuel Tank Fittings" yesterday. With ZA turned off both are visible.
I obviously...
Hi Tony,
According to DigiGuide ( DigiGuide: The Best TV Guide with UK Radio and UK TV Listings ) it's on Discovery.
No detail but it lists the "Sports Cars" programme as 14 December 20.30.
Cheers,
Jim
Hi Andy,
I just figured 50% of 2 being the same as 100% of 1 would mean no restriction - based on your 51% open area mesh.
Are you in position to give details of the supplier? I'd certainly be interested in 'tea strainers' for 48IDA's.
Cheers,
Jim
Hi Andy,
Given that the surface area of a hemisphere is exactly twice that of its base circle, wouldn't the tea strainer shape shown in your photo would give you [roughly] unrestricted flow if you used the 455mic material?
Lotus had the same idea ...
Hi Ken,
According to Trevor Legate's book, P1072, the car bought by Noel Edmonds in 1974, was sold by him in 1983.
Apparently, he used to enter the BBC car park by driving UNDER the lowered security barrier.
Regards,
Jim Pearson
Hi Dave,
Yes, Saturday and Sunday.
Staying with friends near Silverstone and have tickets in the Luffield B Stand.
Suppose you're too busy to meet for a beer at some stage??
Cheers,
Jim
