Calling Quaife ZFQ Owners - Speedo Connection

I'm still not sure whether or not: a) The ZFQ and Smiths factory speedometer will work correctly (even if not calibrated) without adapters, and b) Will there will be an adapter on the back of my speedo, should I dig into the dash? Surely someone would know something about this combo.

Calling Quaife ZFQ Owners - Speedo Connection

Richard, This IS a new build. As Rick pointed out, I didn't have to modify the subframe, but I DID have to cut the bottom tab (ear) off the Quaife for clearance. It was tough to take a cutting wheel to a brand new casting. Such is life. I'll have to check the back of my speedo for the 90...

Calling Quaife ZFQ Owners - Speedo Connection

Thanks, Gentlemen. I tried the connection last night (note that I didn't route the cable correctly yet). It reaches - at least this routing does. Thanks again for all the help.

Calling Quaife ZFQ Owners - Speedo Connection

Gus has helped me with a reference pic. The red circle in my photo is the attach point. Robert - I'll check the rotation and consider either the adapter or the GPS unit. Thanks, everyone!

Ford 302 EFI Engine Issue at higher revs only

Colin, I'd start thinking of the spark timing aspects. What's the timing at idle? How much timing advance is added as rpm increases. What's the total timing and when does it go "all in"?

    P2334 Transaxle is IN!

Thanks, guys. Mike: First start planned for around Oct. 1, assuming current pace and minimal complications. Video to follow. jac mac: No, they haven't addressed that. Still 6 bolts - none of them lower than about 9 o'clock and 3 o'clock. OliveR: Thanks for the advice on the ZFQ and...

    SPF P/2334 Photos via Flickr

Just sharing my Flickr account, in case you want to see the build from delivery. We just installed the Quaife transaxle last evening. https://www.flickr.com/gp/141675158@N03/03b91u

    P2334 Transaxle is IN!

Finally, after a couple of start/stop cycles, the Quaife ZFQ is installed. The ZFQ/Quicktime bellhousing combo offers only four attach points, at 8 o'clock, 10 o'clock, 2 o'clock, and 4 o'clock. The ZFQ has addition threaded holes in the casting at 11:30 and 12:30, which we wanted to use...

    Pulley to Firewall Clearance

Richard, My former Brother-In-Law (and still very close friend) has 1966 GT350H 6S1633. I grew up working on it. Thanks for the continued advice and encouragement. Tim

    Pulley to Firewall Clearance

Thanks, Richard. And everyone, really. The engine is in tonight. Even though I acknowledge that I'll have some trouble with the firewall panel, I'm having a hard time envisioning the coolant plumbing coming off the thermostat. Look at that nice billet piece that Roush supplied. How in the...

    Pulley to Firewall Clearance

Tried to install the Roush 427SR tonight. There isn't enough clearance between the firewall and the alternator and water pump pulleys. We pulled out the engine and swapped the chassis mounts. No joy - ended up 1/2 inch closer to firewall than the former position. Thoughts? I was told to...

Prothane Motor Mount / Roush 427R Woes

Update: One call to Olthoff and the problem is solved. As mentioned above, their motor mount kit uses a BB Chev insert, available from AutoZone. Along with the brackets supplied on the chassis and in the parts box, we should have the drivetrain installed very soon. Thanks again.
