Both can be built to a very high level with a $ 100k budget. But resale value is another thing. The GT40 is a known quantity..the GTM is not and I suspect you'd recoup far less than you would on the GT40. I know resale isn't a big deal for some...but it is for others. MikeD

If cost/authenticity are not a factor...then CV's are the way to go. Corvettes ran u-joints for 44 years...but switched over to CV's in 1997 (?). IMHO u-joint/half shafts are more period correct...my set cost $ 650 and will handle 500 hp. At that time custom CVs/shafts would have run me...

Ian I agree. The RBT is a fine tranny and the correct T-44 would have been another $ 30-40K. I suspect prices will be " soft " for high end replicas for a while...but even so, someone got a very good deal. A similar turnkey from ERA would have been LOTS more than $ 90k. A lovely car. MikeD

Many mono customers are not looking for less weight....they are looking for authenticity to the original chassis design, so welded steel (or SS) is preferred. Actually I'm surprised more GT40 manufacturers don't offer carbon fibre bodies. As I recall....Factory Five Cobra offers a CF body...
