Not understanding the delivery process, looking for help.

Which parts aren't being delivered by the supplier? Cars are still going out with items on backorder. I'm missing several things, but the car did show up. A couple items already have arrived, but still missing some "big ticket" things like steering and transaxle completion kit parts.

    New Transaxle Option

Preference for manually skipping gears. I skip gears all the time. First to 3rd, 2nd to 4th. It's better for casual driving IMO. I've only driven sequential a couple times and I found the convenience of pulling a gear paddle fun, but I decided pretty quickly that it's not for a daily drive...

    New Transaxle Option

Imagine being stuck in slow or stop 'n go traffic with the sequential. No thanks.

Thanks, Neal. From the suggestions here I don't think that level of work is in my wheelhouse. Good luck selling the kit though.

Thank you both for the insight. I knew the rear spring setup was tight, but didn’t think the addition of the cups would be that detrimental. Looks like it would be. I did a deep dive and active suspension would need more knowledge and skill to install than I’m capable of at this time. Joel, I...

The front lift kit arrived the other day, I got around to checking it out. It’s from Stanceparts, looks pretty solid. However, it’s got a big air tank that will be fun to try to hide. Anyone switched to the tankless version? Also, no ride height sensors seem to be available for the kit, so it...

    New Transaxle Option

The cars here aren't daily drivers generally speaking, and one of the chief complaints about cars like the SLC is how loud they are inside. I don't suppose adding gear whine to the mix would be too big of a deal, lol. Some might even like it. It might be annoying on long trips, but I don't...

    New Transaxle Option

This is digging up an old thread. The SCS does exist: https://supercarsystem.com/ It is allegedly being used and cost just over $12k. A ton of stuff is made in China, and it isn't all cheap junk. You get what you pay for. I like how compact it is, but it's only sequential and I think for a...

Already have a question for those of you who have recently received a car. The roll cage does not look like the ones I'm used to seeing in the other build threads - those are smoothly curved, no expansion welded ends. Wondering if this is a new thing. The one I have...is different. Also, the...

Just the basics: Ordered 3/10/22, got notified in November '23 it would be finished last week of November-ish, got it delivered 12/7/23. Just shy of 1 year, 9 months from deposit to delivery. Attached are the order specs and the first pics at its new home.

Nice job blazing the trail. It’s not what you don’t know, it’s what you don’t know you don’t know that makes jobs difficult. I think the little bit of color is cool, FWIW.

Looking closer at this engine option

People here talked me out of a high HP motor for the SLC. I can see why after looking around, these aren't supposed to be quarter-milers at all, and if you drop $15k+ on a good transaxle it's a lot of money if the power makes something go bang in the back of the car. I'd definitely love to hit...

Looking closer at this engine option

Yeah. There's no good way to reduce compression other than increasing volume remaining at top of stroke or shortening the stroke. Head chamber, reduced compression pistons, shorten the stroke, etc. You can get really minor changes with a thicker head gasket, but that's not really a worthwhile...

    6-point seatbelts for street

Beats me. Seems they're fine with you flopping around in a crash and depend on airbags of various sorts to save you. The seat back will break at some point and you get flat with it and someone decided that preventing all that was bad with a 4+ point harness. The roll cage is there to keep...

    6-point seatbelts for street

^ That's the answer. Normal cars if the roof collapses your body has a chance to move aside with a standard 3 point seatbelt. If in a 5-pt harness, your head becomes the roll cage because you can't really move. But it's a different story in cars with roll cages, and 5-pt+ harnesses can be...

    6-point seatbelts for street

Yes, NY has multiple inspections when registering a self-built car. I’m going to try to get it registered as an SLC and not as a reproduction ~’80s LMP car, so that will require it to meet current rules. Shouldn’t be a big deal, it’s just little things like this where the rules don’t really...

    6-point seatbelts for street

Schroth's was a combined camlock and center pushbutton. Was a great bridge design that gave you the benefits of the camlock and the pushbutton to meet regs. The pushbutton was recessed so probably even less danger of that being released than a regular street car 3-point belt. EDIT: DJ safety...
