    GT40 vs the Competition

Done that for this suspension. What is a reasonable suspension travel? 50mm in and 50mm out? I created this graph below directly from CAD for this unequal length double wishbone suspension above. You can see that it generates about 1deg of negative chamber when compressed 50mm. Chamber gain...

Do you guys remember the Garage Countach? For sale here https://www.ronsusser.com/inventory/listing/incredible-lamborghini-countach-replica-basement-lambo-17-years-in-the-making/ Based on C4 suspension - love the engineering on that car.

Yes, agree. Any insider information on suspension geometries and types that you cannot read-up on the web would be of interest for me.

    GT40 vs the Competition

It is interesting to note that the Lamborghini Countach had the same type of trailing arm suspension as the GT40. Here the early Countach (LP400) You can see that the upright has two pick-up points that merge into a single pick-up point on the chassis. Improvements then replaced this...

    GT40 vs the Competition

The C4-5-6 parts are also super cheap and easy to get. I have done some research on this and according to what I found, the C4 Corvettes around 1984 had the most extreme "go-cart" like agility and feeling and front suspension setup whereas later versions, then in particular C5 and C6 were...

Uprights, Knuckles, Centerlock Adapters and Hubs

Also found this one. I understand the front is based on a Granada upright? What is the story about these Granada uprights?

Uprights, Knuckles, Centerlock Adapters and Hubs

Hi there, I am looking for a source to get centerlock hubs, uprights and front steering knuckles from. I am building a replica, although not a GT40 replica, and I would like to use parts that I can purchase from somewhere. What are the best sources for these parts? Are these kit car companies...

VW W12 to Porsche G86.20 transaxle

Double checked everything and asked Chris to machine the flywheel and adapter plate for me. The adapter plate (in green) mounts to the G86.20 with countersunk bolts. The G86.20 with the mounted adapter plate then mounts to the W12. I wanted the mounting plate thickness to be 0 and mount the...

VW W12 to Porsche G86.20 transaxle

That is exactly the gentleman I am working with! Removing the starter is really a nightmare on these engines - it requires taking the headers off! I tried without, but no luck. As such, my idea is to mount the starter wheel on the harmonic balancer and relocate the starter.

VW W12 to Porsche G86.20 transaxle

Got the mounting plate in between the W12 and G86.20 figured out. 3x of the bolts match, but the adapter plate is still needed. I kept the thickness low - its 10mm. The green plate is the adapter plate. The blue geometry is the W12 flange. Also got a supplier that can make the flywheel, etc...

    GT40 Chassis CAD file

Thanks for the link. So far, I have two different GT40 frames in CAD. They are quite different from each other. Unsure if the red one (all round tubing) "is real".

    GT40 Chassis CAD file

Thanks for sending this to me. This is made from 40x40 mostly, quite similar to the Prova/Lorico frame I am working on. Unfortunately, I have no CAD assembly of this frame here. Does anyone have a CAD assembly? I do have a second design in CAD that is made from round tubing: If...

VW W12 to Porsche G86.20 transaxle

Some more numbers on torsional stiffness: The base frame has about 2300 Nm/degree and the fully paneled one has almost double with 4400 Nm/degree. Original Countach had 2600 Nm/degree (also had no panels, only tubes) McLaren F1 had 13500 Nm/degree Porsche 911 Turbo (2000) 13500 Nm/degree...

    GT40 Chassis CAD file

I would run an FEA simulation to understand torsional stiffness as compared to the Prova/Lorico chassis I am using. Here some more info: https://www.gt40s.com/threads/vw-w12-to-porsche-g86-20-transaxle.56902/page-3#post-594167
