    Too much droop.....

Cliff, Make sure that in full droop your lower radius arm is not put in bending by contacting the chassis! This would be very bad for many reasons and unsafe at best. You don't need to be airborn to reach full droop, you just need to go over a rise fast enough to become weightless for a moment...

    M20 Dreaming

Hi Leon, First off staggering work! What a beautiful car you are building, you Kiwi's are the most CAN DO/WILL DO poeple I have ever seen. I have a question/concern I bring up only for safety reasons so please know that it is not to slight the beautiful job you are doing in any way. I have been...

    Lotus Transaxle

Hi Jake, I have a friend in Texas that makes a "kit" to instal a Toyota 4AGE engine in the Europa that works very well. I think it can make enough power (they use this engine for Formula Atlantic) and still handle well. a V8 in a Europa might be a bit much weight wise. I'm all for power to...

Settings for a street driven GT40....

Hi Cliff, I set my car up today to 4.5" in front and 5.0" in back with 1deg. neg. camber all around and .050" toe all around. It has been three years since I've checked/set the suspension and it was way off. My car was light in front and the steering was too quick at 100+ but it is much better...

    Cooling problem

Hi all, Well I changed the bleed line from the manifold from 3/8th to 1/4 and have done nothing else but drive it hard for about 50 miles and it seems to be working fine! I have had it to 6500 in both first and second many times and have cruised at 5000+ in first for a while (man it sounds good...

    Cooling problem

Don/Steve, Thank you for your help and great information. I will work on this this weekend and start eliminating things one at a time and see if I can find a solution. I am running a 180 thermostat at the moment and have not had an overheating problem yet but I can see if I was running a track...

    Cooling problem

Hi all, here's a quick update. I took the GT out yesterday afternoon and ran it good and hard (55MPH in first,96MPH in 2nd) and I still have a problem pushing coolant out the catch tank at high RPM (5000~6500 RPM). I see very stable temp (180) as long as I stay at 5000RPM or less, you would...

    Cooling problem

Alan, I was not asking for help I was trying to explain to Bob how I "solved" a similar problem with my car. When Mark answered Bob it raised a question with my fix and I found I still had a problem. Using Marks advice today my problem (the same as Bob's) is fixed! I drove the car 35 miles and...

    Cooling problem

Mark, I am greatful for any help from members on this forum and thank you for your reply. I do NOT have an air bleed in my intake it is at the high point of the pressure line to the radiator after the thermostat housing. I'm wondering if I would be better to have it in the intake as you suggest...

    Cooling problem

Bob, when your driving do you ever see the temp rise quickly and then fall after 10 to 15 seconds? I found with my system that until I was able to get all the air out I would get steam pockets and as the steam went accross the temp sender the temp would rise to like 220 or 230 and then fall back...

    Minimum HP and TQ

William, The 930 in my GT has stock gearing and is a 4 speed, the five speeds are G50's. I'm not sure what the tq is as I have not had it on a dyno but it's more than enough. The car is not "tail happy" but only because I don't let it get out there. With the BFG TA tires I'm running (they are...

    Minimum HP and TQ

I'm running a 400ish H.P. 302 with a 930 transaxle and it's plenty fast to scare anyone but is not hard to handle at all. It will do almost 60MPH in first and rapidly approching 100MPH in second if you want to do that or you can go 60MPH in fourth at a quiet very relaxing pace and talk to the...

Quick Fuel metering blocks for a Holley 4150

Andrew and Jac you guys ROCK! I should have the metering plates tomorrow or the next day so I'll let you know what happens. Jac, I don't have the Idle-eze but at this point I might purchase one, would I need to get new throttle plates since I have already drilled holes in them? This carb works...

Quick Fuel metering blocks for a Holley 4150

Hi Andrew, my inability to communicate is showing! I can kill the engine at idle with the four corner idle adjustment. They should be turned out from seated between one turn and two turns, I'm at about 5/8th or less so I have no fine controll. The point where I start to get lean enough is less...

Quick Fuel metering blocks for a Holley 4150

Thank you all for your replies, always great help here. Andrew, I have done all the things you describe with no success which is why I wanted to try the adjustable metering blocks. I have the throttle plates at .020 (measured) I have the float levels adjusted, timing checked and rechecked. I...

Quick Fuel metering blocks for a Holley 4150

Has anyone tried the Quick fuel adjustable metering blocks for a Holley type 4150 carb? I'm running a 650 Speed Demon and I can't get it lean enough at idle no matter what I do. I would think adjusting the idle feed restrictions will solve this problem but wonder if anyone has gone down this...

    930 Trans

I have a 930 in my car and love it, it will go almost 60MPH in first and very quickly approching 100MPH in second. For just driving around, at 60MPH in third I'm at about 3000RPM and in fourth 2000RPM. Very strong and geared well for the application.
