Thanks for the advice. So, in my case, would you suggest I just tilt the engine/transmission to get a small amount of clearance between the water pump and the firewall, or go for slightly longer bolts on the middle engine mount and add a washer or two to the spacer? Keeping in mind that...

The engine and transmission went back into the car today, but I was surprised to find that with the center engine mount bolts and spacers tightened up, the modified water pump contacts the firewall. On further investigation, it appears that there is about a 1/4" gap between the bottom of the...

Thanks for the reply. On other projects I have built (not clutches), the outer race of the bearing itself was secured with loctite, to prevent it from spinning in its mount.

One thing that just occurred to me: The crate engine came via RCR with the pilot bearing already installed. I didn't check to see whether or not it was installed with loctite or if it is even required? Does anyone know if the pilot bearings need to be installed with loctite?

My clutch is finally installed and the Graziano transmission bolted back onto the LS7 engine. This is the first time I have ever installed a clutch. The actual installation process was pretty easy and only took about 3 hours, although this did include a lot of fiddling around trying to get the...

What torque is recommended for the clutch pressure plate bolts? In Allan's video, he mentions 25 ft-lbs, but this is much higher than the normal recommended torque for 6 mm bolts. Also, the bolts I was planning to use are grade 8 hex head, but in the video, Allan is using socket head. I think...

Attached are some pictures of my LS7/Graziano as shipped from RCR. It was hard mounted on the frame (no rubber bushings). Note the spacers in the first two pictures.

It looks like the 6mm x1.0x75mm bolts for mounting the clutch to the flywheel are going to be about 4 mm too long; the unthreaded shank of the bolt protrudes beyond the end of the clutch housing (when the starter ring gear is in place). I am going to order some 6mm x 1.0 x 70mm bolts and see how...

Mahlon, Thanks for the comments on the 911 alignment tool. As the tools are cheap and I've never done this before, I'm hoping to find one that is an exact fit, but if there isn't one out there, the 911 tool sounds like it could be a good fallback.

I'm a little worried about the "23 splines" reference on that tool. I double checked and still count 25 splines on the clutch plates and on the shaft of the Graziano. Has anyone successfully used this one or found an alternative that they know works?

I did a search on the Autopartsway.com website for clutch alignment tool G126940 and it came back with this: http://www.autopartsway.com/search.cfm?allMk/allY/allMd/allSmd/allEn/allB/allCT/allsct/search:G126940 : a "Mr. Gasket Co." #6940 clutch alignment tool. It arrived today, but...

    RCR Adjustable Pedals Picture?

Hi Frank, The allen head bolt needs to be pulled up all the way into the shoulder fitting in order to clear the lower plate. On mine, I found that screwing the shoulder fitting out just a bit would allow the allen head bolt to clear the hole. I did have to grind down the outer diameter of the...

    Evaporator Mounting

The Vintage Air evaporator supplied with my kit came with four mounting lugs, but only two mounting brackets, both of which were discarded. The two supplied brackets are slotted, which would allow the evaporator to move out of position, and I couldn't see how it would be possible to mount them...

    RCR Adjustable Pedals Picture?

I think the design and parts used depend on what pedal assembly you have. Mine came with the Tilton pedals and looks like the attached. In the first picture, the small plate stamped "SLC" is the one used - the other plate is not used (must be for a different pedal assembly?)

I believe both of the pressure relief valves should be the same (or at least, mine were). Here's a picture of what mine looks like. I cut the tab off the "T".

Does anyone have the size for the flywheel to engine mounting bolts? How about a part no. or specs or source for the clutch alignment tool? I checked with my usual local shops (autozone, O'reilly's) and noone has a reference for a 2011 audi R8 clutch alignment tool.

Thanks guys! RCR-supplied clutch and flywheel are in my hot little hands. Ring gear, pilot bearing and bolts are on order from the sites on this thread. Now, if I just knew what to do once everything gets here . . . :) I have never installed a clutch or transmission, so any pictures, parts...
