    ZFQ transaxle failure

Another thought... I know next to nothing about them, but PFITZNER in Australia have a dog box 6 speed transaxle that appears to use some WINTERS components... price is getting up there though. Not even sure it would fit in the GT40 space.

    Engine

Sorry folks, I thought I had deleted this... its an article that showed how the imbalance is divided between Damper & Flywheel. EG the 50 oz factor has 34 oz in the damper & 16 oz in the flywheel. The above link does not work, my fault.

    Abbey Panels Video

Well it is an 'English' wheel, had a chuckle at that! In an old book I have on the subject there is cartoon of a guy's tie going thru the wheel with the inevitable result of face contact with the upper wheel .

I had not seen before, lots of drivers faces that I recognised from the Tasman Series here in NZ ( that was when we could get autographs & actually talk with drivers ) !., thanks for re-posting it. bit at the end with McLaren in a road car made me think what was going on. Long time since you...

    Assembling a Monocoque

My memory goes on the blink at times... MSD ignition systems have a little trick where the ignition timing will retard itself slightly as the RPM rises, There is no list of models affected by this to my knowledge, just that it does happen, something like this... @ ~4000RPM you might have 38 deg...

    ZFQ transaxle failure

The bolt circle dia @ the crank is ~ 3" or so, whereas the circle dia @ torque converter is approx 9 or 10". The torque converter actually does a great job of cooling trans fluid and drilling in pump body is only about .200" or so. The cooler lines to radiator heat exchangers are larger and flow...

    GT40 IV Ebay

The name Bill Peters rings a bell with me, I joined in late 2005 and it was around then I found some photos of that car in its build, think it was built out of spare MKIV parts etc, were several pcs of the T44 in bits, input shaft was built up from Top Loader shaft with extension etc, some...

    Aussie RCR T70 capers

The ol bloke that ran the TVR out here in NZ got a drive in a Toyota saloon class at Bathurst, was having trouble getting the hang of the circuit, ended up spinning it while running down Con Rod... was in the pits afterwards collecting his thoughts and a driver from one of the commodore teams...

That looks like the ZFQ that I used data from on the recent transaxle thread on here, apparently a repeat offender.

    Transaxle Dilemma

ZFQ low gear is 2.5? to 1 and 2nd is 1.6 to 1, so you say you have 543 ft lb @engine= 1357 ft lb for low gear and 860 ft lb for second, doubt even your ~12" tires will harness that, but gives you a better idea of what you are subjecting the transaxle to, learn to treat the TA with some respect.

    Transaxle Dilemma

542 ft ibs is a couple of hundred ft/lbs more than they are meant to live with, If its the ZFQ I saw pics of in another forum those wide tires & that engine would be capable of the damage shown.
