    Dyno Results

Great looking motor and results Neal. Dyno days are nail biting days. If you're like me, when the rpms start into the 5K plus range, you just pray nothing flies apart! Was there any extended high rpm loads or just ramping type pulls? What did the torque curve look like at lower rpm? I also...

VOTE NOW: What do we do to Hersh...

Hersh and I talked a bit today. He's not leaving the forum, just taking a small breather. News I was glad to hear!

    RF to match GT40NZ prices

I usually stay away from posts like this one but feel compelled to comment this time. This thread started life as an advertisment. RF will match prices with certain other GT40 vendors. Some web sites prohibit advertising as such unless the vendor pays for the ad. Some don't. While I don't...

    Baer Brakes

Got my brake systems from Baer the other day. I wanted to run 13" rotors on the front in 16" wheels. Baer was able to use all standard parts except drilling the rotors for the 6 pins. Alcon 4 piston calipers. Everything bolts up to ERA's pin drive parts and fits in the 16" wheels with room...

    New Ford GT website

The cost of most transaxles designed to handle 500 ft-lb of torque put them out of reach for most of us...and they aren't necessary. My 351 engine dynoed aroung 415 ft-lb. Pantera guys say the -2 ZF will handle that easily with no problems. Used or NOS -2 or M1 ZF's aren't cheap nor are parts...

    Transaxle Info

John, Here's a link to a couple of photos of my ZF when I had it apart to flip the ring gear for GT40 configuration (from Pantera). http://members7.clubphoto.com/dave539245/1168778/guest.phtml

    Usefulness of the forum...

The Internet has made doing so many types of projects, finding information, and finding materials easy. It's hard to imagine doing a project like a GT40 without it. This forum has so many experienced people with such a great diversity of skills and knowledge that problems and questions can be...

    Problem dealing with RBT

I've ordered several items from Lloyd over the last couple of years and have had no problems either placing the order or receiving the parts.

    Frustration cleaning Transaxle

Anyone polishing a ZF case has my admiration. I cleaned and smoothed mine for powder coating, but the surface didn't have to be polished. As it was, I spent several weeks just smoothing. There are lots of nooks and crannies.

Are any replicas feasible as daily drivers?

I certainly didn't buy my car so it could set in the garage and only be driven 1 or 2 days a week. I drive 70+ miles a day to and from work, and I fully intend to do it in the 40. Parking at work would be the biggest worry, buy I have a reserved wide spot, so that's not an issue. It will be...

Max power with a Mustang clutch.

David, Not sure of the part numbers or how good they are, but I have a 157 tooth flywheel on a 351C, standard 10" diameter clutch disk and diaphram pressure plate (both McLeod), and they handled 410 ft-lb on the dyno OK.

Knock off conversion, need sectional drawing

Bob, Fronts are 9-1/2" wide x 16" dia, 4-1/2" backspacing. Rears are 12" wide x 17" dia, 4-1/2" backspacing. The rears were only 16" dia when the above pics were taken. These wheels were made by Bill Jongbloed in the early 90's. Peter at ERA tells me Bill only made several sets at that time...

Knock off conversion, need sectional drawing

Jongbloed 3 piece BRM's. These are 16 diameter as pictured. I had them spin new 17 inch rims for the rears (17"x12"). The bolts that hold the rims to the center can be seen on the back of the wheel.

    EFI Using Webers

I used TWM's on my engine. While the throttle bodies themselves aren't out of sight expensive, when you add throttle linkage, injectors, fuel system (pump, regulator, filters, hoses, fittings), and ECU, as others have said, it gets expensive quickly. [ February 01, 2003: Message edited...

    Threadlocker and engine assembly

Tightening bolts to a certain torque is meant to stretch the bolt slightly, not past the point of permanently distorting the bolt, but up to the point the bolt will return to normal length when loosened. Using a bolt, a stud with a nut, using oil on the threads, using a moly lube on the...

    replica: most reliable??

Even amoung the single radiator opening front ends, there is diversity. ERA offers either a straight or curved leading edge. The black car pictured below uses the straight leading edge. My car uses a curved leading edge. I am using a 351 Cleveland in my car. It uses TWM EFI...
