Same breather can for both motor and gearbox?

That's a good idea! I'll drain the can in a few months and assess how much fluid is actually making it into the line. My guess is it don't be much at all. The stack of fittings on top of the housing are already 3" high.

Same breather can for both motor and gearbox?

Hi Bob. No, there isn’t. So some small amount of splash does reach the hole and had soaked my breather cap I had previously, which then leads to heavy misting on the gearbox exterior. I’ll probably add a filtered/screened AN fitting at that joint to provide some kind of fluid guard.

    Jim's RCR Lola build.

Jim, have you decided on your gearbox yet? I've been flirting with the idea of swapping from my ZF to the LG600, but it's a huge investment. I don't have as much power as you; I don't think the ZF could handle your numbers. The LG could though!

Same breather can for both motor and gearbox?

Thanks guys, went ahead and added a bung and plumbed them all in together. After 300 miles, there was only a few drops of oil in the can, so I don't think fluids mixing would be an issue.

Same breather can for both motor and gearbox?

Wasn't sure which forum this question best belongs in, so trying here in Engines. I currently have a breather can which collects the gas venting from my valve covers. It's right next to the gearbox at the back of the car and I'd like to add a vent line from my gearbox as well. The gearbox...

    ZF Fitting

If anyone else is ever in this boat and finds this thread in the future, I found this fitting: https://speedflowusa.com/3-4bspp-male-to-an-male/

    ZF Fitting

Thank you Morten. I had never heard of BSP thread but it seems to correspond to my existing fitting. My car actually has an RCR top plate, not a RBT, so it might be different. I pulled the fitting and it measures 25.9mm OD on the threads, so not quite 26.4, but probably close enough. It does...

    ZF Fitting

I know this is an old thread but I'm in a similar situation. Wondering if anyone has a source on the parts needed to do what Steve did above. I'm starting from just the 26mm threaded hole in the casing, so need a way to get from 26mm (what thread pitch?) to some kind of AN fitting...

Went about 30 miles this weekend and happy to say, no leaks. Thanks for the support!

Help fixing a leak on a ZF

One concern before I start the car… is the drain plug supposed to bottom out on something (i.e., torque down tight)? In online diagrams it looks like the original drain plug was short and had a shoulder/washer to bottom on the exterior but mine is longer and does not. Online diagrams also show...

Help fixing a leak on a ZF

Interesting, never heard of it. Right Stuff apparently doesn't need much cure time either, engine builders will run an engine on the dyno immediately after sealing an intake on. Regardless, the job is done now. Just waiting on my 3 quarts to arrive then I'll fill it up (with 2.5 quarts I...

Help fixing a leak on a ZF

As promised, here are a few pics from the repair job! I’ve ordered fresh oil so that will give it a day or two to cure. Draining: Cleaned off: The parts cleaned off: Right Stuff applied: Squeeze out (this was cleaned up):

Help fixing a leak on a ZF

You are the man Ron! Thank you. I will be sure to take a few photos of the job and let folks know how it went. Can I impose one more question upon you? If the spring detent assembly is actually the source of the leak (or is leaking as well), is there a fix for it, or does it require a new...

Help fixing a leak on a ZF

Thanks, yup I used Right Stuff just this past weekend on my intake actually. Just looking for data on what happens when that small housing is removed. If Steve is correct in that nothing happens at all, that’s great! I might give it a shot soon.

Help fixing a leak on a ZF

The leak is at the joint right below the cast “2”, and not exactly where the red arrow is pointing, by the way.

Help fixing a leak on a ZF

Hi guys, I have an inverted ZF (same config as the GT40) in my Lola, and have a leak at the joint where shown. I am pretty confident the leak is at this particular seal. Im wondering what happens if I were to remove the two nuts holding this small housing on. Will something with critical...
