    Chassis set up etc.

Shocks with air valves in will be Gas Mono type, it's critical that the gas pressure is correct and it needs to be around 14 bar. The shocks won't function at all well if the gas pressure is low. You'll need a special charging head to re-gas them as a normal tyres type will not work properly...

    Tornado GT40 Pedal Box

I did offer up a Rally Design adjustable Mk2 Escort pedal box to a friend of mines Tornado. That's a twin/triple master cylinder with balance bar box with hanging pedals. It looked fairly straight forward to fit it, but, in the end we went with the floor mounted box as we changed to a quick...

    A Riviera scratchbuilt GT40

Hi Rene, You can add another to that number now, Claude Chaume picked his kit up from me on Saturday morning after a 700 km drive from France. It's great that the community of builders is growing, especially so many people taking on the challenge of building something from scratch like you...

Hi Geoff, The uprights themselves are the same as Mk3 onwards Cortina, just a 5 stud hub on them. So you might have more luck finding them. I do have an odd Cortina upright around, which hand do you need, if its the same as the odd one i have you are in luck! D.

Chassis Rigidity - Replicas v. Origianls

Chassis ridigity is always a good discussion, but, it always raises a few questions. 1. What figure are you looking for. 2. How do you measure it. For me the first is that you are looking for a stiffness a magnitude above the stiffness of the suspension. Effectively what you are looking for...

    Brett's RS GTD

F1 driveshafts only have one circlip. We have a spring and bullet shaped piece inside each end of the driveshaft to makesure the cv's run centrally. On the Prost our spring assembly used to be broken at the end of the race and there was never any issues with the CV's or the shafts, suggesting...

Carbon fibre and titanium F1 parts design.

Hi John, I was lucky to work directly with John Barnard in F1, and he is a pretty free thinker and is prepared to take calculated risks. That allowed us to come up with some blue sky ideas and try them out. Most worked and even though the Prost was towards the rear of the grid mechanically our...

Carbon fibre and titanium F1 parts design.

I found some pictures on an old hard drive of some design projects i worked on from F1 and on a rather special Porsche road car. When i was growing up and interested in this sort of thing i could never find any details on the design and manufacture of this type of part, so for those that are...

    Need help to import

Hi Bob, Just as a matter of interest what part is it? I ran two Lexus BTCC cars in 2006/2007 and we did a load of re-design work on the front and rear suspension which made a massive difference on the track. I always wondered what became of the cars. Rally Design regularly ship large...

    Tornado Fuel sender access help

I've attached some drawings that might help. I use the ETB float/lever style fule level sender for all my cars, so one drawing shows the fitting details for that (helps anyone designing fuel tanks, and also hole sizes for access panels). The other drawing shows an oblong cover that i use. D.
