    Seattle Active Power GT40 - A Father/Son build

nicely done, I like how you hid the mounting on the underside! I did an extended engine run to have everything heat up (only idle, but w/ no cooling air flow) and was pleased that the fiberglass body was warm, but nothing concerning. On a lotus 7 build, I had a turbo fairly close to my hood...

    Seattle Active Power GT40 - A Father/Son build

It's been awhile since my last update... Working on the Rear Clamshell: the exhaust is very tight, I had previously hacked it apart just enough to make things clear...knowing that I would come back later to clean everything up. Opening up the air vents... Once I cleaned up the areas around...

I also used them to complete my fuel system...was taking me a long time to try to peice everything together, then once I found them, it was nice to have a 1-stop-shop.

    Seattle Active Power GT40 - A Father/Son build

We got the ratios we wanted...now whether or not they are "correct" will be seen in the coming months. I will say that Mendeola was great help with all of this...we came in with a pretty good idea of what we wanted, and they helped recommend the final details. -1st -5th gear ratios: 2.57...

    Seattle Active Power GT40 - A Father/Son build

I haven't heard of any...but I would join if there was one! I always learn something when a fellow builder stops by, or I get a chance to check out someone else's build.

    Seattle Active Power GT40 - A Father/Son build

Love that my girls always ask to help in the garage...I try to keep a few projects ready for them. I ended up changing the intake manifold as that was giving me idle issues & backfiring...I just needed something simple so that I can get this driving. With the intake off, I decided to open the...

    Seattle Active Power GT40 - A Father/Son build

While I ended up working a handful of days over the Christmas/New Years holiday, I still managed to get some solid hours in the garage! Firsts...inlcuding moving under it's own power. The Seattle rain briefly stopped, and while it was 40F & roads were wet, that didn't stop us! -long engine idle...

    Seattle Active Power GT40 - A Father/Son build

The rear suspension didn't have much room for the coilover & axle...so my freind is helping to design an inboard set-up w/ rocker. This was our test fit...can't wait to get the final design installed!

    Seattle Active Power GT40 - A Father/Son build

a few updates...for some reason some of the pics are sideways, not sure how to rotate them? This is the harness bar for the seat belts (6 pt harness). I had originally planned to wrap the harness around the bar...but there's a bulkhead panel that separates this harness bar from the interior...

    Seattle Active Power GT40 - A Father/Son build

I took a few months off the build and just getting back to it...update I posted to our build blog (http://umimech.com/2019/11/17/its-a-tribute-build/) "It’s a Tribute build… What started as a Father & Son’s GT40 build is now a son’s tribute build of his Dad’s Dream car. My Dad passed away...

    Seattle Active Power GT40 - A Father/Son build

Agreed. General principle for the roll cage was to design it such that you're more likely to hit your head on any other interior panel (or windshield). We'll also have padding on the key areas, and 6pt harnesses will be the sole seat belt, even on the street. We were going to do that, but...

    Seattle Active Power GT40 - A Father/Son build

none at this point...it's going to be an open track day car w/ some street use. Here's a pic as I researched various ways to design a roll cage w/ the GT40's unique doors; Gave me pause...and with ~600HP, I know I'll want to stretch it's legs on the track, so it solid cage is good insurance.

    Seattle Active Power GT40 - A Father/Son build

last set...more or less brings it up to date. Installed a Corvetter oil pan, it reduced the pan height by ~2.5", so now the pan is ~1/4" below the chassis. once I get the tranny, I may raise it up to make it level. While doing the oil pan, we also got a kit from Improved Racing, that...

My good freind stopping by to lend a hand...driving the Lotus 7 kit that I build about 8 yrs ago. Harrop's ITBs arrived...these things are beautiful!! cover removed...and it better shows the real length of the runners. mock up test fit...looks right at home! Top removed...love it...

    Seattle Active Power GT40 - A Father/Son build

slow but steady progress...some pics Added the door bar to the Passenger side...notched the door. Next is to clean it up, and likely add some reinforcement Door bar welded in. I wanted some extra protection to prevent the front roll hoop from caving into the passenger compartment in...

nice progress and congrats on the engine starting!!! Where's your steering wheel ;)? *How did you mount your coolant hard pipes through the central chassis tube? Mine are just laid in there for now...but I'm trying to figure out how I could attach some P-Clamps to keep the coolant lines from...
