    Dan's Build

Thanks Bill. The battery checked out. I plan to increase the wire gauge to the starter before attacking the starter. I had started doing some leg work in case that was a problem. Most guys who experienced this seemed to have solved with bigger gauge and some heat shielding. Bigger wire is...

    Dan's Build

Cam Here is a pic. The diameter was exactly the same so no mod to the hole. The mounting tabs were different so four new nutserts to hold the fan. Its taller but that wasn't critical for me. My wires are not tied down in the pic yet, but you can see the difference. Straight blades vs...

    Dreaded P0606 Code

My tuner is aware and will call me Monday. I erased the code today for the hell of it and ran the car for about 40 minutes testing the fan. I did not manipulate the throttle so didn’t get into any throttle tables. I will do that after installing the second cooling fan and talking to my tuner...

    Dan's Build

I'm sharing a new part that someone may be interested in. (Reader beware, electricity is a foreign language to me). As a reference, I'm using the Infinity Wiring system. In discussions with Infinity, I was educated on what they call MOSFET. "Think of this as a solid state relay. Each of the...

    Dreaded P0606 Code

Don’t let it be true. I only have 200 miles. Took forever to get a good tune. Seems like this code is a catch all for non specific failures, so I’m hoping it’s some odd ball thing......maybe a fluke....if only. I used my OBD reader to collaborate any odd readings or system failure...

    Dreaded P0606 Code

I haven't seen this one discussed so I just experienced a PO606 error code. IAW the internet it could be all kinds of stuff. Before I dig in, has anyone had this code and what did you do? Thanks

    Ken's SLC build thread

Ken Mine are tight and under a lot of stress once tightened, however, I am able to position them by hand however before tightening them up. The upper Heim is maxed out with the side load due to the angle. That upper mount should have been angled better to accommodate the direction of the...

I’ll try to find the receipt I’ll look this weekend.

    Vss-ecm-stalling

I initially had the DD hooked to the VSS and ECU. The ECU wants to know the car is moving. We discovered the DD was not fast enough feeding the ECU at slow speeds. So we disconnected it to the ECU and went mechanical via a ring to feed the ECU. It’s a very simple process of data entry to the...

    Vss-ecm-stalling

This may help or not but here goes: I'm running the LS3/480 with the GM hot cam. I also changed out my drop gear to the .903 set. In lieu of a dyno tune (which failed me three times with three tuners), I opted to use Allan's tuner Ed Gomez of Pro Edge Tuning (Wallingford, CT) and we street...

    Stronger Starter

Question: I'm running 4 gauge from battery to the starter over a 4 foot stretch. While running a larger gauge (2, 1, 1/0) is better, bending it to match the current run angles may not work. What happens if I run another 4 gauge parallel to the existing wire?

    Stronger Starter

Jerry I hit the wrong blog, but I read your old situation. I’m adding a heat shield and when it happens again, I will use your start procedure. I don’t think the Bosch unit looks like a good unit, appears cheap. Mine is a reman, makes me wonder. I have not found an after market company who...

    Stronger Starter

Interesting conversation with PowerMaster Tech today. The question was is a 4 cylinder starter designed to have less power than an 8 cylinder starter. Generally speaking.....they said no. Could not get Bosch to provide feedback on our VW vs Audi starter comparison.

    Stronger Starter

Ok I have to ask. The basic starter we received are for the Volkswagen and generally seems to be for a 4 cylinder motor. They only need so much power to start. The Audi is a small V8 so can I assume correctly that the starter for the Audi is built to spin the bigger engine, aka it’s got more...

    CamT's build thread

Cam...watched the video, looked like fun. The starter sounded strong enough during the start attempt so heat soak there may be off the table. I’m watching your evaluation with keen interest, so keep us up to speed on what you find. We will let you do the investigating while we wait with a...

    Stronger Starter

Is that Cam T that’s using the Audi unit? Any idea what part number on the connector? Does it matter which year of R8 to look for?
