    Air Conditioning Effectiveness

Raul Neil said he had good luck with the 3M film. I bit the bullet and ordered the tinted windows others are ordering. In talking to the manufacturer of the tinted poly it’s tint in the poly not a surface film. They said it has UV but the individual I talked to could not give me a number...

It has held up very well. A tip, but experiment for yourself first. I used blue auto fine line tape to create my frit edges. I initially used a small cabinet roller to avoid brush lines I experienced earlier using Raptor. I suggest brushing the edge next to the tape and roll behind it to...

    Tinted Lexan Windows - Please?

Emailed RCR today. They will send you an invoice for your window. Guess you can email or call. Also talked to manufacturer and the told me windows have UV protection but could not give me a % number.

    Tinted Lexan Windows - Please?

Anyone know what the UV rating is supposed to be. Tint alone may not solve the "southern" heat problem. Thanks

    Jack stands vs lifts

Gents...my 2 cents worth. I too struggled with what lift/jacks etc to procure.....so I bought a Max Jack and a 4 post lift. I store the car on the 4 post when not in use and park the family car under it. I discovered how convenient it was to have the Max Jack not only for the SLC but for all...

    Air Conditioning Effectiveness

I have worked with a friend who owns a tinting business (20 years). He demonstrated the capability to reduce heat via ceramic films which reduced UV heat nearly 90%. Great stuff but the tint material doesn’t stick to the poly. We tried normal tint film and over time it began to bubble. if...

    Aaron's SL-C build...

I recall a lot of air bubbles and very heavy gel in my body after baking it, leaving it in the sun for days and doing a coin tap. Unfortunately it always seemed to be in the most inconvenient spots to repair (Murphy at work). Not sure which type of gel was used but mine was prone to spider...

Gauge pressure was good however I’m going to do a volume check as well. I see a little foam in the sight window. I have 4 vents. I used two adjustable vents on top of dash to double as defrosters and cockpit vents, dual duty.

    Air Conditioning Effectiveness

Good call on heater. I checked it by hand upstream and it’s cool to the touch. Too hot to touch on engine side so that is good. I have a little foam action in sight glass but clears up as soon as compressor comes on. Once I top it off I will check temp diff again looking for approx 15/20...

    Air Conditioning Effectiveness

For those who used the Vintage Air system supplied with the car, how good id your working in AC mode? How many pounds of 134 did you use? I've done all the typical system pressure checks, swapped out the orifice tube, ran dye and see no leaks (I replaced the expansion valve for room). The...

The process is a fascinating process. They have a large plotter that prints simple to complex designs on a film. Once printed, the printed vinyl is then placed in a machine that attaches a clear vinyl on top.....about 2 to 3 mils. On my car they used a 3M knifeless tape that is pretty...

I talked to shop owner about getting a laser scanner so they could scan the car and would have a 3D scan for their design program. They could then design and sell patterns not only for limited production vehicles but they would own their own patterns for any common cars/trucks they wanted. No...

Vinyl. Since no pattern exist for the car, it was hand layer and used knife less tape to install. Interesting process. Could be a DIY once you see it done.

    Converting RHD SLC to LHD

Kyle. Not sure what type loom your going to use. I made a discovery that may help with heat protection. The looming that most auto stores sells have little heat protection qualities. It was by accident while in a marine supply store I found some marine grade wire loom. Discovered that It...

Kurt H (hoffkm) SL-C build thread

Kurt, for what’s its worth I took my system to my local AC shop to fill her up. The old timer there shared some wisdom with me. While running the AC look into the dryer window on top for bubbles. When you stop seeing bubbles and the pressures are right, you got enough refrigerant.
