Hi Ron, Yes, there appears to be a standard Lucas disconnect switch there but it is below the solenoid and lower down on the bulkhead. As Boris mentioned the solenoid pictured is a "later" Lucas or Ford Europe type. Here is a similar one fitted inside the B pillar of another original chassis.

Am I correct in thinking it's a funny place to put a starter solenoid, - hanging bare through the bulkhead plate behind the driver's armpit.

I received a message from an old friend this morning who reminded myself of making a couple of accurate steering rack casting patterns. This 2-piece and cored R/H pattern just needed fillets and numbering at the time.

The town of Slough moved from Buckinghamshire into Berkshire in 1974. Thus the plot thickens :) So the Windsor Road address was used in 1961. (advert) The fan shown appears to be a lightweight running at 4.5 Amps with the shorter casing and an Otter switch for control.

Here is one real stomach churning GT40 crash in which thankfully Adrian Newey walked from. P/1010 was severely molicated in this event but the fellow rebuilt it. :)

New Pre '65 Kenlowe Plate replicating the damaged original above. More post '65 Kenlowe type plates in pro' (curiously not just an address change but the original fonts between the two types are different). Other plates typically used on P/ cars.

The 1963 Vickers Hover Rover has a Kenlowe Fan on the cooling circuit and it looks like the label reads "Near" Maidenhead. It appears to be more of the motor shown rather than the fan, but I doubt that it is doing much good by the size of the fins on that coil. This photo also shows what appears...

I know that he stripped his car down before sending the chassis to Bryan Wingfield so perhaps he can recall.
