Love the bandsaw -- agree it's one of those things you can't live without once you have it! I bought a cheap one at Harbor freight which works fine for aluminum and wood, but no adjustable speed so I can't use it for stainless (too fast).

Kyle is right, mounts to the spider, but there's still a gap between the spider and chassis. I cut spacers for mine -- similar gap. I actually bought a 1.5" diameter Delrin rod off e-bay and just use it to cut off body mount spacers. Works great.

Yes, I'll definitely keep an eye on them for wear. The housings are aluminum not plastic, but if they start getting chewed up it will be easy to put a simple shield over them.

That could work as well. The connectors are around 1/8" or 3mm wide so you'd just need smaller female spade connectors
