    Un1 input shaft - is it normal to be removed

    any news on your gear box? mine is out again after 1 minute. vibration during slight revving still happens. new bronze oillite bushing. Im going to have to take it apart to verify the inner bearings are ok.

    Yes, but I did drive the hell out of it getting home for about 20 miles as the vibration after the burnouts and donuts was less severe at a specific rpm. I probably should have towed it, but was having too much fun in the twisted roads of the foothills of the Sierras.

    Most folks are steering me toward the solid or roller bearing. For the exception of a race trans builder who said sealed ball.

    I'll definitely make some brace rods. Yes this is Faili's old car. Most importantly still Aaron Johnson's engine, it's a Beast! The pilot bearing adapter did extend a bit, I did not check for squareness before using the puller to get it out. It seems that it's a two piece main shaft on the UN1...

    Will do! On the measuring on 2 planes. I do have some learning to do on why so many different preferences on the bearing type. A manufacture of heavy duty race transmissions said sealed high speed is the only thing they use and never Needle type bearings. Jac and others say bronze or roller are...

    Thanks for the suggestion, I can definitely do that after I get a new bearing in place. I have plenty of magnetic base indicators. I have a few Haas CNC machines. Sometimes bearings go bad. I'm looking for a second UN1 so that I can build myself a solid shaft trans with a Q-LSD.

    Pilot bearing was the weakest link! Need to find a new one but sealed high speed ball bearing this time.

    Just lost the pilot bearing needles and need some parts to tidy up this UN1 and stick it back in. Pilot bearing, Throw out bearing possibly an aluminum flywheel package. Thanks in advance. ken
