I picked up a small lathe over the weekend. It's a Myford M type from 1946. The plan is to strip it down, clean and re-paint it. I haven't used a lathe since I was at school, so will be nice to be able to use one again. Will hopefully use it to make a few parts for the GT40...

Thanks Jim I had a play around with it last night. To get reverse, you need to push the selector in and move the top forwards. So in the diagram above, need to flip the red movement. The yellow is correct. Cheers James

Finished the build table - all flat and level. I've also got some 7/16" UNF threaded tubes for the seat belt fixings.

Got the engine into the garage this weekend. Managed to get the torque converter off and mounted onto the engine stand. It feels good to have the engine in the garage. Hopefully the next time it leaves the garage it will be under its own power in a GT40!

Good show. Pity there wasn't a bit more GT40 action though. I enjoyed the section with Dan Gurney.

Got the upper rails welded up. Next step is to build the build table. I'm going to store the engine at the back of the garage and need to get it there before building the table. But I can't get hold of the engine for a few weeks, so will have to find some other jobs to do in the meantime...

Stephen - yep, it's my 200 bottle or so wine rack, which is around 50% full :). I ferment my own wine (from kits), so can fill it up 30 bottles at a time. But it is proving a bit of a task to get it full as I keep drinking them! Jayson - I'm looking forward to seeing the completed chassis too...

Done my first bit of actually building the car.... Cut the upper rails and got them ready for tacking up.

Hi Brian Yep, as David says, it should just bolt on - no adaptor required. I will need to sort out a flywheel insert to convert it from automatic to manual. Something like this. Cheers James

I know where you're coming from. It probably took about a year to convince my other half that it would be a good idea for me to take on a new project! Pity your 7 has to go, but at least that will give you the incentive to get cracking on the 40. I've gone for the GT-Forté too - looks like...
