    GT-Forté / GTS40 - cockpit gear linkage space

Thanks True. That was actually my first thought too - dividing the space equally between driver and passenger. But doing this would alter the drivers position relative to the steering wheel. PS - have you been able to make a start on your chassis yet?

    GT-Forté / GTS40 - cockpit gear linkage space

Hi These comments are primarily aimed at the GT-Forté / GTS40 chassis and builders, but input from anyone else / on other chassis is more than welcome too... I've been thinking about the driver cockpit space and the space for the gear linkage mechanism. In the GTS40 chassis, the drivers...

    Power steering electrically assited

An old thread, but I've just found some info here on controlling the ECU for the Corsa power steering unit. Might be of interest for anyone wanting to install a 'dynamic' speed controller rather than the manually adjustable knob.

    Bobs GTD

Hi Bob What make is that stereo please? All the after market stereos I can find are pretty ugly with many flashing lights etc. Is it an OEM stereo? I know the soundtrack of a GT40 will be pretty amazing. But there's always going to be a time when you're stuck in traffic and a bit of music /...

Hi Jason Wow - the door handle looks great. Just wondered how many hours you have in machining and polishing them?!

James' GT-Forté scratch build GT40 MkI

Cheers guys. Bit more 2d work to go first though... I can make the middle rails in one section on the build table separately, then join the lower and middle sections with vertical / triangulation pieces. Then I'll be able to sit 'in' it! Ha :)

James' GT-Forté scratch build GT40 MkI

Hi Finished the lower chassis section now. Think I'll have a beer or two tonight to celebrate :).

    Fuel tanks

Hi Renato I've been thinking about fuel tanks too. At the minute, I'm leaning towards having the two tanks operate separately. Not really for any other reason than I think it'll be cool having two gauges and being able to switch between tanks. I remember having a ride in a Jag when I was a boy...

Keith Baker's Southern gt on the build

    JaseH's GTForte

Hi Jayson, just wondered if you've tried using some quality cobalt drill bits? These stay sharp for ages! Use a slow speed and put lots of pressure on - should cut through in no time....!!

    GT-Forte GTs40 build

Hi David I think the MS3 with MS3X looks pretty cool. Should give you lots of flexibility on how you're going to run your engine. Just wondered if you're planning to use the JimStim / JimStimX to test it?

James' GT-Forté scratch build GT40 MkI

Hi Jem. The plans were from GTS. Darren's now doing a chassis pack which includes all the rails pre-cut with notches / holes so that the chassis can be 'slotted' together ready for welding up, which looks pretty cool. Yep, engine is an Audi 4.2 - got it sitting in my garage ready for stripping...

James' GT-Forté scratch build GT40 MkI

All the lower chassis rails are now in place. I've just spend the evening cleaning all the ends / joints up ready for welding. The blocks will obviously hold everything in position laterally and I'll put additional clamps down to stop any vertical movement when tack welding each area.

Front interior paneling. Many do it?

Not that it makes much difference but on the cars I've seen, the panel has been fitted to the underside rather than on top of the lower chassis rails.

    Darrin's MMR BOSS based GT40

Hi Darrin. I think the seats look good. Not sure if that style would limit you to 4-point harnesses rather than 6-point though. May or may not be an issue for you.

James' GT-Forté scratch build GT40 MkI

Cheers Renato I don't think I'll be able to match your pace, but it's definitely good when things start coming together! Hi Michel - I'll be MIG welding it.
