About to Order - Lessons Learned?

I'm 6' 2" and I did not get the bubble. I don't like them, personally, but even more importantly, it was nowhere near where my head was. They mount the bubble too far forward in my opinion. Makes it useless for more headroom. Now... maybe Dan Gurney had short legs and a long torso? :laugh...

    F1 in 2012

I was sitting at Turn 11. Not a bad view... we could see them coming out of 9/10 and braking hard for 11. Then watch them disappear over the hill way down the track just before 12. Great weekend. FWIW, Kirby

    Brake Reservoir Update

Thanks, Michael. With the fire bottle and the coolant tank there already, it was sort of all I could come up with without dropping it too low. Kirby

    Brake Reservoir Update

John, as per the pics I sent in the other thread, I actually used bulkhead AN4 fittings and ran braided lines on both sides of the bulkhead. So, three braided lines from each brake master and the clutch master to the bulkhead fittings. Then three more braided lines from the bulkhead fittings...

Master cylinder to supply hose fitting?

The Tilton reservoir arrived and is installed. Braided lines installed through the firewall with bulkhead fittings. I refer to this as a 'bolt on blues' saga... Bolt on item 'A' - No problem. Bolt on item 'B' - No problem. Try to bolt on item 'A' and item 'B' and.... uhoh.... I decided...

Master cylinder to supply hose fitting?

I agree. I had seen some fluid in the past and put new seals on the caps, but that didn't seem to help... even made it worse? I have cleaned up most and painted. Still have to get in on the floor in front of the pedals... paint peeling and rust there, too. Sigh.... Thanks for all the...

Master cylinder to supply hose fitting?

My mistake.... The fitting on the 'T' coming off the master cylinders is a 3/8"-24. The flare you show in the picture above is an AN3 as far as I can tell. I had it in my head that was what I needed. I haven't taken the 'T' that SPF put on the master cylinders off yet... I will most likely...

Master cylinder to supply hose fitting?

So.... new question. The threads on an AN3 are the same. Did you rationalize this in the end? Was the Pegasus fitting what you needed? Above, you say it's a 7/16"-20, but the threads on the fitting are 3/8". It is certainly weird that they used an AN3 flare when it doesn't seem to be sealing...

Master cylinder to supply hose fitting?

Thanks for the info! I have it all apart and cleaned things up. Shouldn't have to do that on a five year old car, right? Kirby

Master cylinder to supply hose fitting?

I took mine apart and found rust and brake fluid everywhere... Which way did you go in the end? The CNC triple or the Tilton triple? And... to save me some time... did you order hoses that are premade at Pegasus or did you make them up yourself. I'd sure appreciate the details, if you...

    17" Wheels and Tires

They are Goodyear Blue Streak Sports Car Specials 6.00 x 15 fronts 8.00 x 15 rears They are very sticky and pick up pebbles big time. I think they'd last three weekend sessions or so. I haven't beat them up that much yet and they're probably getting old now... I haven't been to the track since...

    Empty space in my garage

I know I am biased, but that's a very nice looking car! Here's mine.... I had looked at doing the flat black hood, but had the same problem finding a big enough piece. Nice way of doing it by using the existing stripes. Of course, now... if I do that, I'd need to remove the...

    Waterpump theory

Woody, Almost identical to my installation except I do not have the bleed lines on the back of the heads. I also have the overflow going to another tank as I described in my previous message and Mike describes before that. Regards, Kirby

Need some history on SPF MK II P 2176

I will repeat what I have said before in 'short form'. 1) I knew the guy who bought this car originally. He rode in my MkII and said... I need one of these! But his goal was to have 1000HP. He got it in spades. He brought it by my house one night to look at it. It was late, so I...

    OK, who was it?

Maybe.... I'm pretty sure this guy knows the difference though... I'll check with him next week... he had to go to a funeral. In any case, I would have thought the license plate was a dead giveaway. He said it was either GTE 40 or GTE 4D Oh, well... just wondering. Regards, Kirby

    OK, who was it?

Gee... Mike.... It's already embarrassing enough. A 360 at that speed with no damage is something, I guess. Surprised that nobody from Oz has claimed to be the owner of the car my friend saw when he was in Australia. You mean to tell me there are GT40 owners in Australia who are NOT on the...
