    A GT40 MkII goes by

I've had a Pantera since 1983. The red race only Pantera was never planned... My son-in-law said he wasn't using it, so go have fun! It's been quite an ordeal to revive it. Yes, it's just a matter of time before Texas World Speedway disappears. The owner/developer has gotten approval to turn...

    A GT40 MkII goes by

A couple of weekends ago, I took my Pantera race car to TWS for a shakedown. It'd been sitting for about 3-4 years doing nothing prior to getting it and I've been trying to resurrect it... Lots of things to fix... But even after that, three times prior at the track, I had to be towed in. My...

    $375K for a Superformance GT40...??!!

Yup! I have the Michelin Pilot Sports. I like them. Much better on the street than the Avons, especially when it's cold or damp... even raining. On the track though, I'm using the 15" wheels with Goodyear Blue Streak Vintage.... if I remember correctly. They have a semblance of...

    $375K for a Superformance GT40...??!!

I can confirm. The 15" wheels show next to no threads remaining when they are on. The 17" wheels from Vintage Wheels show some threads. Drove the hell out of it both ways. No drama. The wheels are tight and stay tight. FWIW, Kirby

    GT40 50TH Reunion!

Yeah, that was fun, Jack. But, sorry to say... This Texas guy won't be able to make it. It just so happens that weekend is during the same period as the project's major 'stack up test' is scheduled in Louisiana. Since I'm the project director, kinda' hard for me to weasel out of it...

    drag strip

I believe they are rubber, but could be wrong. Of course, just to wind you up... Jack and I might have more HP. Regards, Kirby

    drag strip

    1) If the engine moves 'slightly', I'd have no problem with it. Based on passengers watching, their comments were that it was lifting 'more than an inch'. This meant to me that the rubber was being stressed too much for my taste. What else is getting stressed or moved during this? Dunno... The...

    drag strip

I'm quoting myself here... While digging through things, I found the motor mount pieces with rubber that I replaced. I'm sure most everyone has seen them, but I took these out and made solid pieces out of about 1/4" sheet metal to replace them. Pretty easy to do. FWIW, Kirby

    drag strip

Nope. I made them myself. I just cut some pieces of iron plate and welded up an all metal piece which mimics the part with the rubber on it. Pretty easy, actually... even with my limited talents. Unfortunately, I didn't take any pictures, but I'm sure you'll see what I'm talking about...

Ah, heck, Jack... I'll let you off this time. Questions 1) Time? Speed? Looked like over 100mph (Never mind! I should have clicked on the second picture!) Nice job with those oldish Avons! 2) Do you get any more vibration? Kirby

1083 alive and well at CotA

Thread drift here.... Thanks! The fans at CoTA seemed to think so, too! Gray had the B16 cleaned up and prepped with the original livery so he can take it to Classic LeMans next year. The car can be seen several times in Steve McQueen's movie 'Le Mans', so it should be nice that it goes...

1083 alive and well at CotA

Sorry I didn't meet you! Didn't know where to look. t was with Gray Gregory most of the time. I'm kinda' biased that way... he's my son in law. He won the Saturday enduro with his Chevron B16. The other races, he was chasing Doc Bundy the whole time. The announcer came over and...

1083 alive and well at CotA

Jim was 8th in the qualifying race today. Doc Bundy 1st in a Lotus, Gray next in his B16. I didn't see 1083 run today... Kirby

1083 alive and well at CotA

No more pictures today.... too busy! Gray got 1st place in the endurance with his Chevron B16. Good stuff! He and his co-driver got a nice medallion each, a trophy and they each get a made to measure Bell helmet with a special paint scheme for the event. I'll try to take some more pics...
