Found details about the photo of the firetruck and the tracks. After a service call, they took the photo on disused tracks (closed for weeklong repairs) as a joke. 10 years later the photo is still circulating...

Interesting, someone added a switch and a light to the bracket to illuminate the engine area.

On my car, it's a leather strap with a brass clip on one end to disconnect. Could it be a bracket someone added for a rod to keep the tail from slamming shut in a high wind? (always a worry when showing the car).
