I think the photo of the brunette kneeling next the the dragster is "Jungle Pam" (Pam Hardy).

Another issue could be the fuel. I have a similar problem with vapor lock with my Holley. Someone told me that high octane fuel has more volatiles than standard fuel, so it's more likely to suffer from vapor lock if the carbs get too hot.

Could check valves be added to the breather hoses to prevent fluids being pulled out of the catch tank?

A very nice line up.

Here's a photo of my car's engine in 1969. If you look carefully, you can see the catch tank in the foreground. It's an old metal canteen.

Even though I was at the Simeone a couple times last week, I didn't get a chance to meet Dr. Simeone, but from all of the stories I heard from the people at the museum, he sounded like an interesting person. The museum staff definitely like him.

IIRC, he said the rule for Le Mans back then was that in case of a tie, the driver who had driven the furthest was the winner. McLaren started further back from the start line, so he traveled further. He also mentioned another rule that I didn't fully hear, but I think he said that the rules...
