    A dozen SPF GTs

SCCA in my area has a half-dozen time trials a year that I'll do. The Silver State Classic (formerly the Eastern Nevada Road Race) is a good possibility. Formal racing in SCCA and NASA is a possiblity, but a big step up in hassle and (for me) cost. We'll see.

Roush Edition SPF GT40 at Barrett-Jackson

There are those that have money to burn, literally. And they drive up prices for the rest of us.

    Price increase for Superformance GT's

Clearly, Lola is aiming for a different market than is Hi-Tech Auto/SPF and Jim Hall. Lola is probably being influenced by the very high-end vintage/historic race car market for their original Lola T70 coupes. I don't know what the original Lola T70 Mark 3B coupes are going for but, in...

    Price increase for Superformance GT's

Bwhahahaha!!! This is exactly why the FIA is creating the extensive and detailed database of all know race cars, including their history and chain of ownership. Everybody knows there's bogus cars that have been allowed in vintage/historic racing.

    Price increase for Superformance GT's

Yes. In fact, the FIA is starting a database for all historic race cars ever made just to administrate this issue. It should be quite a project.

    Price increase for Superformance GT's

I don't know if there is an official definition of the term "continuation" car outside of FIA's or some other racing governing body's rules, but a car that would fit the strictest definition of the term historically would be those cars being made again by the same concern that manufactured the...

    Price increase for Superformance GT's

Old news. Go to http://www.gt40s.com/forum/superformance-gt40s/20108-price-increase.html Did they not produce the 4,500 units originally planned? This isn't going to happen to any degree for many, many years. The Ford GT's, because of their price, are primarily a collector car and, like a...

Motor Choice for Superformance GT40 MK1

Hi-Tech Auto: Thanks. We know that this is "straight from the horse's mouth." Howard: Thanks for the ideas. When I get mine, I'll get it on the track (or a really big parking lot) and start sorting out. For me, it will be mostly the street and a half-dozen local SCCA time trials a...

Motor Choice for Superformance GT40 MK1

At the risk of getting briefly off-topic here . . . . Howard: What upgrades would you suggest for a SPF GT for 20K?

    Price increase

IMO Chuck has it right. What SPF has done is just good business. In a free-market economy the purpose of a business is to make money, not to cheaply satisfy the lusts of those that would buy their products. Still, we should look at our cups as being half-full rather than half-empty: Even...

    Would this be sacrilegious?

I was just inquiring if anybody had contacted Ricardo about the applicability of their Ford GT product to the SPF GT --- aside from a prime competitior of Ricardo, RBT. What kind of "abuse" are they referring too?

    Would this be sacrilegious?

That's what the dealer here has said: "So far there's been no problem." But the SPF GT's are so new and there's so few "out there" in "owner product-testing land." Hmmm. O.K. If so, then we can forget about the Ford/Ricardo item. (More's the pity, because it would probably be an excellent...

    Would this be sacrilegious?

Being a product of a major manufacturer, The GT's transaxle was very probably designed, developed and tested to death, and we know it will handle 550 bhp. But when Ford finishes production of its GT, production of its transaxle will very likely also cease. (Production of the T44's ended with...

    Price increase

It could be a lot of things. I don't think the dollar has devalued against foreign currencies nearly that much since the time that they priced them at $70,000. I suspect that either their production costs are greater than they anticipated and that they are passing the additional cost to the...

Yeah, everybody's gonna do that --- especially on the track.

    Would this be sacrilegious?

So, because the extra traction wouldn't allow wheelspin and load the transaxle too much, right? I saw a SPF GT roller being set up for racing on Saturday at my local dealer. It had a Roush aluminum-block 427 on a stand next to it to go in it --- and a ZF transaxle on the floor beside the...
