    Engine mounts

Bill, Randy Many thanks for replies. I had'nt thought about the "drum" effect on the mono but makes good sense. I guess that any attendant sympathetic vibration might also have a detrimental effect on other fixings. Still learnin' at 64  Best John

    Engine mounts

'Ello all Interested to know the for and against arguments for solid mounts v bushed mounts for my RCR/LS7. Fran has (kindly) supplied me with some excellent solid mounts for my LS7 which he made up in his shop. These could be re-engineered to accept bushes but I don't which is the best route...

 Fran All parts now in the workshop, many thanks. New RH drive plenum superb also am still drooling over the Tilton masters, pricey but boy do they look good. Worth saying in hindsight that had I known that my original post would have brought out the looney toons I would have...

    Hey Fran!!!

Brian Good move. I have always loved the 40 and am building an RCR Mk1 but then Fran goes and designs the SL-C...............if only I could afford both! Have fun John

Give us a break (brake?) Fran.........and anything else ya got for us

In answer to various postings Ye gods all I wanted to do was illicit a response from Fran to let me know when I’d get me bits. Many of the parts have now arrived and the third consignment is in transit so a big thanks to Fran and all at RCR. Fran has also taken the trouble to phone me and...

Give us a break (brake?) Fran.........and anything else ya got for us

Fran Many thanks, I eagerly await the arrival of the third box. Not sure how this works but I have had to pay VAT and import on the items received (these would normally have been part of the "original ship" so I have already paid the taxes on them). Apparently they (UPS?) will contact RCR at...

Give us a break (brake?) Fran.........and anything else ya got for us

Fran Thanks, had a look at the build manual, what I appear to be missing are the 4 upper heim joints. I would be happy to chase your supplier direct if that would help. John

Give us a break (brake?) Fran.........and anything else ya got for us

Fran The new flat belt compressor arrived today, it is a much superior product than the V belt one I originally received, thanks. I have only received two of the three parcels so may be I'm premature in asking this next question (all the items had appeared to come from your sway bar...

Give us a break (brake?) Fran.........and anything else ya got for us

Fran This posting has been made after a great deal of soul searching and with genuine regret by a group of very frustrated guys. We are all delighted with the design and quality of your products and each of us would still choose to build an RCR if making the choice again. However we have all...

    ZFQ new proposed GT40 transaxle

Also posted on build thread. Quaife ZF-Q bell housing to LS7, slight fettling of one of the two holes for the LS7 location dowels, took just a few minutes with a dremel (Actually it was a force fit as delivered but Mr Melia suggested I eased it just a tad:idea:) but for those of you looking to...

    John's RCR build

Thanks for the interest. Dowel holes are pre drilled by Quaife. The bell housing is designed to fit either SB Ford or Chevy LS. I referred to them as location studs above.

'Ello Offered up the Quaife ZF-Q bell housing to the LS7, slight fettling of one of the two holes for the location studs, took just a few minutes with a dremel (Actually it was a force fit as delivered but Mr Melia suggested I eased it just a tad:idea:) but for those of you looking to go down...

Still not hearing what I want to hear!

Brian Sorry to disappoint so soon but I'm fitting a Quaife ZF-Q transaxle. I just struggle with the Ricardo appearance (mostly because it just looks too big) in a 40 replica. I have no doubt that the Ricardo is probably the stronger of the two and if I was building an RCR SL-C then that's what...

Still not hearing what I want to hear!

'Ello Happily this is way off thread. I asked Fran who makes the best yankee small block of all time................here's a clue to the answer, "Fran how does the (very expensive crate motor Ford alloy block with EFI from a major racing supplier..... nameless 'cause I can't afford the legal...

Still not hearing what I want to hear!

By training I am a professional engineer and after v thorough evaluation chose an RCR 40 replica and am now well into the build. There were a few parts (4) not shipped but nothing to hold up the build and one of the shortages was due to non availability from Fran’s supplier (Tilton master...

    WANTED - Large Hadron Collider

'Ello If you think the Einstein speed of light thing seems to be at odds with what we APPEAR to think is normal in our everyday Newtonian view of the world then you should try looking at wave particle duality and quantum entanglements in Quantum Mechanics; now thats really is wierd (and...

    John's RCR build

Sandy Like you I have decided to go down the -4 stainless braided hose route, should look good. Is the CNC 1/8 a 1/8 NPT which seems likely as it's a US product (the fittings suppliers also offer 1/8 BSP to -4 just to confuse)? Thanks again John
