FAST EZ EFI self tuning system issues

^ I tore out an ECU/harness that was causing me problems and installed something better supported. Yeah, it sucks to spend that money all over again, but the peace of mind that comes with it is wonderful. Haven't had a problem since.

FAST EZ EFI self tuning system issues

I have read that older versions (not sure about new ones either) of self learning systems can't cope with hot motors as their lack of vacuum degrades the primary tuning parameter used by these systems.

FAST EZ EFI self tuning system issues

Sorry to hear of your misfortune. An obvious solution is to find a reseller/installer with good depth of experience and have them take a shot at trouble shooting. FAST might be able to direct you to such if you can't find one on your own. Second, that installer may have a back stock of ECUs in...

    ZF shift linkage adjustment

confirm the trans is in neutral by lifting back end of car and attempting to turn rear wheels by hand when clutch is locked. Assuming it has a limited slip diff. If they turn, it's def not in gear.

Again one about Spa 6hours and GT40

Is it me, or were there a number of drivers basically parking their cars on the apex, blocking the pass? A few white knuckle moments in there, and that's before the rain came! Nice video, great driving.

Severe rear end wobble on hard accel

interesting to me that the toe link is not integral to the upper or lower A arm. Makes interesting dynamic toe changes possible, but also allows wonky things to happen if not properly set up.

    Lucas headlights beam pattern

Not offering any advice or guidance here, but I had occasion to speak with a headlight design expert. In a nutshell, design is very complicated, and OEMs spend a tremendous amount of money getting their designs correct - first is the design of the reflector/placement of the bulb, then there is...

    Exhaust Finish

I am not knowledgeable on welding but...you can grind the coating off the outside, but you can't clean it off the inside. So there's the potential of contamination of the weld to deal with. Perhaps not an issue on a header, but I've had a weld crack on a bicycle, it was the repairer's opinion...

    Exhaust Finish

The guys from a respected vintage race shop weren't fans of full coating in case any welding needed to be done on them. Turns out I needed another bung welded into mine for a wide range lambda sensor for tuning EFI, so I was glad I only coated the inside.

    NY member planning my build

Believe it. If you want something that you can hammer on with sticky tires, pay now or pay later.

    NY member planning my build

Pat, I don't have an RCR, but J Burer sent out a thread regarding the availability of Graziano gearboxes at a discount. You might want to check that out for compatibility, transaxle availability is always one of the choke points in the build.

    Source for Transaxle?

^ final drive is exactly analogous to ring pinion in a third member. So Porsche 3.44 equals the same in the third member. And that gear is chosen the same way you'd chose a third member/axle ratio - 4:1 for a drag car, 3.44:1 for an all around car, 2.9:1 for a high speed car. That's considerably...

the SLC LS3 hot catalytic converter mystery and Howard's infinite wisdom

interesting how the cat also prevented you from recognizing what would be the most obvious symptom - the smell of a super rich bank. Well done figuring it out.

Help in bypassing wiper parking function.

^ I'd guess this could also be accomplished by rotating the gearbox output flange 180 degrees on the output shaft, and moving the input shaft of the wiper arm about 90 degrees. Though I can't recall if the gearbox output flange is welded or bolted to the output shaft.

possibly the sickest engine/tran package for an SLC ??

I imagine a cam change and long tube headers would have this motor well over 600 HP. The real upside will happen when these start hitting the salvage yards in 4-5 years so people can build a beefy motor for less than $10K.

possibly the sickest engine/tran package for an SLC ??

^ about 540 lbs apparently. Makes sense, it's got similar architecture to the LS engines, but with an iron block. Alum LS weighs about 450.

    ECU choice for OBD2

there are a number of vendors who can custom build a GM harness. Speartech makes good stuff from what I know, but a little more expensive than some others. I ended up using Current Performance in FL to build mine and I'm pretty happy with it - it was built using braided loom rather than split...

    ECU choice for OBD2

hi Jeff, I just got a used GM E38 ecu to run my LS7 motor. My motor is only mildly modded, so it shouldn't have any issues passing emissions. Things might be a little more complicated with an E Rod motor, in NY you are not allowed to use any ECU which is not native to the engine (though I'm not...
