Paul Thanks for that, electronics is not my field but I can understand your comments and will check. The speedo head is VDO and I have found a good agent close by so once checked, will go and have a natter.

Spent the day with the LVVTC today getting serious over sorting out the road certification of the Mclaren and have a reasonable list to work thru. One thing that caught me out was that I was not allowed to use a GPS speedo! Its possible that my speedo head will accept other signals so was...

More little jobs today, when I cut in the light boxes for the headlights, I had forgotten about the indicators!!! After searching the world for suitable lights to `stick` on the outside, I found an LED light that was a perfect fit at the bottom of the light box ...if I extended them further...

Well last night was meant to be `startup`, thank goodness I did not invite the press! After trying 6 different computors we went back to an old XP based one and finally it talked to the computor...(carbs are great). Then we spent considerable time confirming that it was wired correctly, (carbs...

John, i used some very thick 19mm od chrome moly, it seems to do the trick. Not sure that with the car as wide and low as it is, that there will be any roll. Cheers

More progress, made up the anti roll bar and all its parts today. Not much clearance but a miss is as good as it gets. All the oil cooler and filter set up also installed along with the dash. 99% of the wiring now done, just got to wire up the plugs for the headlights etc for when the nose gets...

Hi Progress has been a bit slow lately, had to do some `home` work and add another guest parking spot. Been 18 years since I last did any earthworks...as the body will attest. The last computer cable arrived but plugged incorrectly so sent back for rewire, maybe 10 more days and then we can fire...

Shaun I have used the 012 as used in the early Boxter and some Audi GT`S. I have had no problems and quite like the box. Cheers

Are you not confusing them with the small round puck caliper? as these appear to be much better with greater leverage and pad area. Got the left hand axel in place with all the `other` bits. Found oil pressure last week with fuel sorted this week so once the Microtech tuning program arrives, we...

John, from memory they are a bit of a mystery being as not listed on the Willwood site, I understand that they are only available in NZ from Cardwells or in the UK. As you can see, the part number is written on the box. I had a great crowd in CHCH do the cables at a rate less than originals...

Finally got my Willwood Radial caliper mounts finished and mounted, took a bit of blind faith using my eyeometer for fit...all bolted up straight and true. These calipers do not seem to be listed at Willwood which is a shame as they are far superior than the seperate little round puck units. Cheers

    the Steinard MK3 takes shape

John, really sorry that your having these drama`s....nobody needs this. I would probably go the new box way to get your new owner sorted and then chase the repairs as a separate issue. Regards Russell

John Sorry to disappoint you but those `happy` dash lights (pc correct answer) are green left and right turn indicators, red ignition light, green lights on and blue hi beam. I got them on line and they turned out a little larger than I would have liked. Cheers

Just in case you thought I had gone to sleep... Finally my dash is completed, I went the male mold direction and struggled with my surface hence about 8 recoats. Meanwhile most other parts are on hand or due in the next few days from being machined.(Radial brake mounts and steering rack...

    Benjamin GT40 YOUTUBE PROJECT

Hi I realize that you already have your chassis laid out but just suggestion for future budding builders. I had folded a sheet metal center box section with a folded base to provide a central `tube` for the pipes and wiring along with a significant structural stiffness. This can be made to any...

    Classic Car Developments Chassis #3

Brian I had a look at your car when I was down in Invercargill in June, really really impressed with the workmanship and skill of Dave`s team. The work on your car is top class, I was intrigued to see Colin Giltrap take delivery of his new continuation Jaguar complete with origional oil...

Aussie GT40 - on a budget (if possible)

Chris, a point to remember is that the Audi 012 drive flanges are off set approx 40mm to the left meaning an adaptor is needed to take that up. I am also using HSV axels and drive flanges that do require an adaptor. Check what wheel offsets you are using to arrive at your overall track width. I...
