    Jonathans RCR 40 Build

J- I am not surprised that my statement about the LS motors made your day. I have always been a die hard Ford fan, and I especially like to put a Ford motor in a Ford replica, but I have to admit certain advantages of the LS motor over my 302. Fuel injection and added cubic inches are two of...

    Jonathans RCR 40 Build

The brakes are as provided by RCR. They are 11.75 inch rotors front and rear with 6 pot willwoods front and 4 pot rear. Both master cylinders are the same size. The bias is pretty much on the center of the bias adjuster. It does not take much of an adjustment before you have too much rear...

    Jonathans RCR 40 Build

Glad this was useful for you. I really enjoyed building mine. Talk about thread resurrection. I have built an entire car since I posted last on this. I now have a completed Factory Five GTM in addition to my GT40.

Is the GT40 and gt40 lookalike replacing the Harley?

I am not significantly over 40. Currently 42 and I finished building my GT40 at 40. My waste is not 4 inches over my belt size. I do not own a shirt with GT40 written on it. I am however follically challenged, but that that started in my early 20s.

    SLC 24 Howard Jones

I have the same fuel pump you are using. I hope you have better luck with your fuel pumps than I have had. For some reason I cannot seem to get the fittings to seal up. I also have troubles with them loosing their prime.

    How safe is your garage?

I agree that locks only keep out the innocent. Most thieves are not that creative. They just go the back door and give it a few kicks. No lock keeps a determined thief out. I helped my neighbor break into her house when she was locked out. I was surprised how easy it was. I drilled out...

    Toms RCR 40 Trackracer

The front trim on my engine is very similar to yours. I would recommend replacing one of your idlers with a spring tensioner. I cannot get my belt to stop squealing when the engine is cold and the AC is on.

    Cableshift.com

It is better but still a little difficult. The 016 has its own interlock to prevent a downshift from 5th to reverse. If you enter the 5th gate you have to go to the first second gate prior to entering the reverse gate. The shifter also has an interlock that you have to push the stick down...

    RCR's Next car should be.....

I have been looking for a J5. My dad built one many years ago and I have always liked the lines on the coupes. I found someone who is making convertible bodies but no one is making the coupes anymore. It is hard to find a nice original one now.

    RCR917 For Sale

I would love to buy that but I have too many fun cars already. Additionally when I bought my last car my wife decided if I could afford another car I could buy her a horse. I am afraid to think of what another car might cost me.:)

I don't know the cable length off hand and it would be very hard to measure it now that it is installed. I have an RCR and it came as part of the deluxe plus kit. I have a center shift and the cables go down the center of the car. Then they go around the engine on the right side as high as I...

    RCR vs. CAV

On the RCR panel fit is up to the builder. The doors are provided oversized and you trim them to fit. They sound pretty solid when they shut. Some builders are adding door bars which would probably make them even more solid. I did not add bars and they seem pretty solid without them.

    Exhaust gasket

I will have to try that on my Cobra. The right side pipe is always blowing out the gasket. Every time I go over a bad crown or speed bump that hits the pipe I need to put on another gasket. I have been going throug about 2 to 3 a year. (I used to put about 7K miles a year on it before I...

    Cableshift.com

My transmission is a side shift. There is no play at all for and aft but the play side to side is significant. The play is almost equal to the gate to gate width. I believe that the play is all in the linkages below the stick.

    Cableshift.com

I have one of their cable shifters on my 016. I also have one on a G50 box. The shifter for the 016 is considerably sloppier than the one on my G50. I also had to do a repair on the shifter for the 016 as well. The internals below the stick are made from brass and appear to be brazed...

    Non circular planetary gears

Reminds me of a toy I used to have as a kid called a spirograph. It was a bunch of plastic gears of odd shapes with holes in them. You put a pen in the hole and worked the gears to draw unusual spiral shapes.

Danny, it looks like that horsepower claim is for the LSD not the gearbox.

    Fuel Sender Shortening

Usually there are instructions with the gauge set on how to shorten them. Have you checked for instructions with the gauges?

    Prices on the up?

It probably has Cobra valve covers. Doesn't that make it a Cobra Jet engine:)

Think you've had a bad day?

The consensus on the internet is that was part of a movie being filmed. The physics are all wrong. A real wreaking ball that big would be too heavy for the crane to lift and would not have come to a stop after hitting a car. If you watch the by standers they all wait until someone yells cut...
