    Interesting MKIV Liveries!

The John Player Special liveries looks great. Just last week we had a vote to select J10 color. Hopefully it should be ready early 2014. We have time to get into a extreme diet to fit in and the jaws of life to get out.

    J9, formerly J7A

We did not have a choice. We purchased J-10 with a MK-IV body many years ago. The G-7A body was long gone. G-7A was never competitive in CanAm Regarding what Ford called the program. If you have a Ford GT40 MK-I, MK-II and MK-III and then You make a new car and keeps the sequence (MK-IV)...

Attached is the Ford Motor Company Press and the title is "FORD GT MARK IV -- GENERAL DESCRIPTION". It clearly states the MK-IV was a Ford GT MK IV. It is a 2 page press release and I have only included Page 1

Miles did in a J-Car (Breadwagon) and not a MK-IV. The MK-IV body reduced the rear aero lift that caused the accident. The car broke in 2 pieces and Miles was ejected from the car. The second Breadwagon body was destroyed in testing. Kenny Thompson did J-19 which is a Breadwagon replica...

The tubs that are now called J-11 and 12 were spare tubs with no id plate. J-9 and J-10 were race cars with a different body (G7A Canam with no roof structure). The Mark I thru IV were all Ford GT. The 2005 was also called by Ford, Ford GT. Ford did not register the GT40 trademark in a car...

It is not J7A but G7A. Two J Chassis were used for the G7A CanAm Car. I saw pictures of J-9 a few weeks ago and it is already converted to MK-IV body and specs. J-10 which was the other G7A is at Kenny Thomson shop in the process of being rebodied to MK-IV specs. J-11 and J-12 were spare...

    Racing Setup - Hooptie 500

Re: Racing Setup? I agree with you. I ran in Road America my old ERA GT and could barely had the cojones to do over 140mph. I had a 962 that lap me twice in my first lap. That was a rocket. My second GT has serious brakes, a much bigger engine and much bigger tires. Now it needs a young...

    Racing Setup - Hooptie 500

Re: Racing Setup? 200MPH on a GT-40 on a N.A. road course you would need a small miracle. Ford spend a good amount of time at the wind tunnel with the new Ford GT keeping the air out of the floor and reducing lift. At Le Mans the straight are very long and required different gears to reach...

    Looking for a GT 40

Sorry about your eyesight problem and hope it gets better. If you still have my first ERA GT (2002 Red and white) it is a MK-I. On another subject. Our J car is at Kenny and the next time Peter goes to his shop I am planning to go. Maybe we can finally meet.

So then, who else is going to Le Mans??

I am leaving for Le Mans on Wednesday morning and staying in Tours. I have not been in Le Mans since 1982. This trip will include the German GP at Nurburgring. Sadly I was black flagged to the British GP by my wife and daughter

    Who makes the best GT40?

The best GT40 replica is a personal thing and the one you can pay that meets your needs, limitations and scope. For me it is ERA. I do not know an ERA owner that is not satisfied with their purchase.

Why are we celebration the birth of the GT40 this year???

At Amelia they announced that next year (2014) the cars feature would be Zagato designed cars. They could add other cars to the show. This year they had 911, GT40 and Lambo. anniversary (all 50 years). Any excuse to have a GT40 gathering are welcome. The more the better.
