GT40 to be honoured at 2013 Amelia Island Concours

The people involved (drivers, team managers) are not getting any younger. I assume that for the next 5 or 6 years we are going to have some kind of celebration at each anniversary. I hope to be able to travel for Goodwood but it depends on my daughter schedule since she starts college next...

    Mustang Mach40

Even a Vespa is more practical than a GT40. Practicality is never a reason to own a GT40. In the near future I have plans to order a new Mustang Chassis and build a 68, 69 Shelby or a Boss 302.

ERA Stops GT40 Replica Production - No New Orders Taken

Done. I will look for another nice hotel like the roach motel at the Glen. I will raise the budget to $25.00/day instead of $22.00 to cover inflation. Or the Hotel we stayed at Indy which had the last guest silhouette painted in the carpet (Knights Inn). See you on Tuesday.

"Actually, my friend Jose "drives" his ERAGT via a play station from the comfort of his barcalounger in his air-conditioned living room in PR, large Italian Sausage Grinder close at hand (and bathroom only steps away)." Most of your miles in the GT are on and off the trailer. My engine...

I have BRM style 17" so big brakes would fit and power assisted brakes. The tires are Hoosiers. The car is right hand drive. I had 15" wheels on my first car and they look good.

Nice car Mike. What is CI of the engine and wheel style? My original GT was Red/White 2002 (finished in 1993) and the present is Gulf blue/orange 2075 (finished in 2004). Both # were out of sequence. Engines 330CI 4V and 409CI 4V. 2075 is at ERA

Teddy is a excellent craftsman and a person. It is incredible he fits on the GT. I have picture of him standing next to my GT and his waist is higher than the roof. Is your car finish? I am flying to "sunny" New Britain next Tuesday for dinner with the two old fart. Peter sense of humor...

ERA Stops GT40 Replica Production - No New Orders Taken

Re: No more new orders being taken for the ERA GT40 Never argue with a fool, onlookers may not be able to tell the difference. We have better words in Spanish but no direct translation into English.

ERA Stops GT40 Replica Production - No New Orders Taken

Re: No more new orders being taken for the ERA GT40 Now you have me worry. First I am not a Dr. but an Engineer. Second It was not a Contemporary but an ERA Third it was your acquaintance and your "friend". It was 23 years ago and the mind plays funny things. On the positive side I...

ERA Stops GT40 Replica Production - No New Orders Taken

Re: No more new orders being taken for the ERA GT40 I do not want to be rude but the cynical or offensive response from Rick's was personal from past experiences and had nothing to do with Buy American or offshore vs. onshore. In my original post I did not mention the manufacturer and was...

ERA Stops GT40 Replica Production - No New Orders Taken

Re: No more new orders being taken for the ERA GT40 In 1994 I was with Peter at Road America for the GT-40 Reunion. He had a conversation with another Peter (SAFIR) and he had a few cars available and no one was interested. ERA was running out of tubs at that time and Peter was caution in...

ERA Stops GT40 Replica Production - No New Orders Taken

Re: No more new orders being taken for the ERA GT40 The average per capita in SA in 2012 is $3,800.00/year. That is around $1.84/hour. An average worker in the US at minimum wage will cost in benefits alone (SS, vacation, sick days etc) close to that. Hi-tech has a factory of 270,000...

ERA Stops GT40 Replica Production - No New Orders Taken

Re: No more new orders being taken for the ERA GT40 It is sad. This past summer I had a chance to see my car at the Glen at the SAAC convention after more than two years in storage. It is a works of art the detail and the effort that was put into it by ERA. The GT is very time consuming and...

    Buying options

A 302 will be down in power for a track car. Brakes will also be an issue. You will be lapped all the time against modern sports cars in the track with better brakes and better engine. ZF is a very strong gearbox and can take bigger displacement engines. My first GT was a 330ci with 15"...

Doing a little math (GT40 quickness)

Installing a Coyote engine on a GT40 is not a easy job and a very expensive. You have gearbox, induction, computer, mounts, brackets and exhaust problem. You would also need to modify the chassis to fit it. It is a lot cheaper and higher hp to install a small block stroker. It would look...

Doing a little math (GT40 quickness)

When Ford designed the new Ford GT it took a old GT-40 and tested on a wind tunnel and spend a million dollars blowing air to it. It found how unstable the car was and added a rear diffuser and a front spoiler to reduce the up lift of the car. It is not only to add a big engine, brakes, and...
