The best political signs I've seen:
1. "Vote for the Old Man and Hot Chick"
2. "A Taxpayer voting for Obama would be like a Chicken voting for Colonel Sanders"
FYI: While taking a short trip a few days ago I smelled gasoline odors. The driver of the car following said it was more like a stong smell. Turns out the "safety" screw-on cap under the standard fast fill-cap was leaking. I'm sure the leakage was aggravated by full fuel tanks and hard...
I surely agree about that, but we may have to think about pulling out that FE or SB Ford and replace it with an electric motor. At least you won't have to worry about fuel injection, Webers, Holleys or the availability or cost of a transaxle!
I do all of the above, plus a car show or cruise now and then. No fun unless you use it, especially on the mountain roads and road courses in the Carolinas and Virginia.
The basics still apply. When they're ignored Scottish historian and jurist Alexander Fraser Tytler explained it best in his book The Decline and Fall of the Athenian Empire
"A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the voters discover that they can...
JacMac: We always do a preassembly to recheck clearances just for this reason, especially the valve train. Fat aluminum rocker arms, large-diameter pushrods and high-lift cams combine to close up clearances at the pushrod and valve-spring retainer, so we check clearances with the valve on the...
You're right about that, Ron. How about Buddy Ingersol's Turbo Coupe T-Bird that ran in the 9's in NHRA "stock" competition. Don't know what boost he was running, but the bottom end of his 2.3L held up to it. I remember how the car carried the front wheels as he left the line.
Ex Ford mule car for experimental SOHC 289. Purchased the Mustang in Sept. 1966 from Ford under the employee purchase plan. The car is a 1966 HiPo GT Mustang fastback with a Pony interior and HiPo package. Turned down an offer from Jack Roush to buy the car a few years back. Car is unrestored...
You're right, Big. We need a lot more caster and a little more camber. One problem with radials is they don't give as much warning when they are about to lose grip. I experienced this at about 210 mph. Where steering felt a bit mushing before bias ply tires lost grip, I was at full lock with...
Howard: I'll have to do some major digging to find the specs. As for caster affecting tire wear, it doesn't. That would be toe and camber. But uneven caster will cause a pull, or left pull for excess positive caster on the right and vice versa.
I'll see if I can find the original GT40...
Dave: The original GT40s ran bias-ply tires, which require different alignment specs, particularly caster/castor. It could be a lot less due to higher rolling resistance. I don't remember exactly what we used on the MkIVs, but I think it was no more that +1 degree. I think the MkIs and MkIIs...
