Great reasons NOT to own a GT40.....

although I don't have one yet, so I hear this is a problem... too many darn beach girls distracting you by flashing you as you drive down the main strip. John

    graphite engine block?

Thanks Dave, I saw the link before and it made me think that it was just a terminology difference. If it isn't even really that different from a regular block, I don't see why the big price tag. Sure it is stronger... but unless you're really going nuts it seems as though one of the Dart...

    graphite engine block?

Just curious what you all think about this... GM is now offering a new "graphite" engine block... price tag is pretty high to get one. Anybody with more metallurgical sense than I have any input? http://www.gmpartsdepot.com/store/product1.asp?SID=8&Product_ID=1853 John

    Hi Speed Lift

Thanks for the response. I was envisioning a full depth nostril with some sort of weatherstripping to keep water from getting in through there. John

Your friendly neighborhood Spiderman here. Hmmm... I wonder which answer you had to check to be Spawn?! I would guess the last one for each question. Very funny... John

    Hi Speed Lift

Thanks for the responses. When I finally have the space and $ for a car (a couple of years yet...) I plan on going with a deep, single-nostril, MkI. John

    Hi Speed Lift

the idea of a "deep nostril" was brought up a few posts back here... In the GT40s I've seen, the single nostril doesn't go down all the way to the aluminum/steel paneling... there is a gap. Why do it like this? Does anyone know how much this effects aerodynamics? Seems like it would allow...

    Moderation and the Forum

I like it the way it is... I've been on several other car forums and they can quickly fall into complete chaos without some moderator activity... The only forums I end up staying at are those that have the more professional touch... where you can post to have fun, but at the same time you don't...

does sound like it is going to be quite the adventure! If you happen to end up in my neck of the woods while I'm around, you can count on having a free meal and potentially a place to stay a night if my situation permits. John

    2 LITRE QUAD CAM V8

strap a small supercharger/turbocharger on each and you should be able to get it moving a bit... I'd bet with that little engine in there you might have some extra space for power adders. John

Whose GT40 is this (Northern Va)?

not me. Someday though... I'm in Richmond, but no GT40 yet... John

    306 vs 342

I agree, in the scheme of things, I'm probably not going to competitively race the car when I finally to buy and build one. I love the sound of a V8 tearing up to 7500rpm... just makes me smile. But in the long run, I'll never notice a little difference in rotating weight... but if I have...
