Need ZF Input Shaft for Clutch Alignment

Alan: The spline on my ZF is 1 1/8" X 10 Chevy spline is the same...probably easier to find that if yours is the same. Phil

    zf transaxle flanges

Bob: I don't know what flanges you have but adapters are easily made by any machine shop. The adapter bolts can be fit from behind the flange, and then the CV simply bolts up on the front side. The existing flanges on your box should have a counterbore that will self center the...

    Brake and Lamp Check...Reverse Light

Ron: There should be a connection for the reverse light on your ZF on the shift translator box on the side. It goes to ground in reverse. Good luck Phil

    Rod end size question

Terry: Half inch also on mine, but with a 5/8" thread. they are much stronger and have a larger ball. The chromoly joints with teflon liner are the way to go. I use 1 1/4" radius rods with .080 wall much stronger and I think they look better. Cheers Phil

Good bye Locost 7 Hello GT40!!

Dave: Looking good so far. I can tell you I am not a fan of running an alternator at the speeds that most stock setups have....most alternators are running at 3 or 4 times engine speed, and I believe most pulleys are in the 2" diam. range. I don't know what your power requirements are...

    Masking tape and plexiglas

I have a friend that used to haul liquid bulk, he would take a load of kerosene every week to the plant where wd-40 was made so I know thats in there. Al, I have a customer who does large graphics and decals for vehicles and they use a 50-50 mix of mineral spirits and soapy water to remove...

    A Riviera scratchbuilt GT40

Rene: Looks great...I love your attention to detail. I too must admit I am a little lax on posting my progress, but when I get time again photos will follow. Your uprights are very nice, I think I have seen the rear before, and the front piece looks like a billet part....very nice work...

    Door Check

Alan, I too got whacked by one of those stainless door retainers...and thought about the possibility of installing a door stay. The two types I have seen are either on the hinge itself with a detent (GM) or like the Volvo type where there is a traveling rod that slides in and out of the...

    My Scratch Built Project

Thanks again Gents....just trying to work on it whenever I can. I do Have an account with Columbia River but they dont have the wide radius bends, I tried rolling them at the shop and just cant get the tube to go tight enough without kinking, I also have a bender, but it wont do thinwall so...

    My Scratch Built Project

Thanks guys...I have done a few of these and it seems to work well. The problem I have now is that I lost my supplier of u-bends in various radii. I used to be able to buy an assortment of varying radius bends and basically have just about all I needed for a complete set of pipes. I like to...

    My Scratch Built Project

Scott, thanks so much...I am also looking forward to your next build. Yes the plug is a wiring connector....the wiring comes in from underneath on the frame rail. and I found those on E-bay for about $11.00 plus shipping, male and female sides. Right now I am waiting on some more tubing...

    My Scratch Built Project

Been quite a while...Busy as hell. Here are some photos of progress so far. The motor as I stated previously runs so just need to finish exhaust and slap on a pair of collectors to get that done...I have two megaphones made up and I am going to use them with baffles so it will be a bit...

Stub axles, custom or is this common?

Mike, Thats quite a good looking hub. I can tell you that the bearing I am using is almost Identical to yours in appearance, and the only difference with the axles I have is that the outer CV joint is part of the stub shaft...otherwise very similar. The only pitfall I needed to avoid with...

    My Scratch Built Project

Well Dave, since you asked. LOL I will take some photos tomorrow AM and post them, just about ready to fire the motor, and I am missing a few exhaust tubes, and one water pipe. I need to ghetto wire the distributor and it will run.. everything else is good to go so the balls in my court...

    Active Power Cars?

I got a chance to get a close look at one of their chassis and I was not impressed...my first thought was a lack of triangulation and strengthening members...I don't remember the exact configuration of the suspension, but I do remember it was not similar to a 40. The body seemed nice enough...

Nicks Forte Scratch Build - to Stunning Mk1 GTD

Nick: Nice job on the chassis for sure. I can tell you that I had a bit of interference on my chassis at the location you are showing on your photo. Mostly because of a change I made in motor/gearbox position, but I needed to notch that member to get clearance, and the bottom web on the...

    Bead blasting alum transmission case?

Mike: There is a mild acid I use to clean aluminum as a prep for welding. Spray it on with a spray bottle..let it foam up and rinse with water. It is also also used to brighten aluminum at the truck washes, my local napa has it in gallons but you probably need a quart at most. Cheers...
