    Steering wheel install questions

Can anyone tell me how this part of the steering column comes apart? I'm assuming part A won't survive welding if it is left in place . . . Dave - I welded mine in place and it didn't melt.

Plan to Build 1 Yr Out. Where to Start?

I agree with Alex, you've got to be a bit flexible on the build. You can build on 10 different areas at once (Clutch, doors, headlights, coolant, etc, etc) and not get bogged down. You've got to morph the build on the way or it ends up not being any fun. That's what this is about in the end...

    Throttle wiring

I cut the harness open a foot at a time removing the DBW. Then re-taped. NBD. Had plenty of room. unless they changed the harness since 2009. I'd rather have a home-run then a patch cable....

How do you install the door shocks????

McMaster-Carr they are adjustable pressure, tho once you let it out, you cant put it back in, but when I put the inside door panel on, the door would not stay up with 140 lbs, so I went to these ones, more money, but they stay up with extra weight. True, I have a small Al door panel to...

    Axle Installation

I agree with the solvent cleanup in that video. CV Assembly __________________ The first two time i put on the cv's, the bolt would back out even though i slathered blue loctite on them. Lithium CV grease beats loctite every time. I try to burn 1 can of brake clean every time i take the...

How fast or quick are the SLC's?

Jack, you're right, I'm sure I could have crushed 4.5k clutch dumps and got better times, that was a first stab, not a huge amount of effort.

How fast or quick are the SLC's?

I tried a few 0-60 passes with my SL-C when it was first built. I tried to hit 60 in first but got fuel pump cut out at 58mph. Bummer. Had to slap together a quick shift to second but still managed a good time: Tires: Nitto nt05a 335-19 in the rear Drivetrain: LS376 - Ricardo 3.30 final...

    What is it???

Cool, glad to know "the effect" happens in the great white north too! It's like a magnet, when people don't know what the car is, they'll drop what they're doing to find out, especially gear heads. I've noticed more and more people have seen it on Gearz / the web since 2010. That doesn't seem...

How do you install the door shocks????

they are over 2' contracted, probably over 3.5 foot stretched. I mounted a socket on the door sill and one the bottom of the interior of the door. You have to cut a small pocket in the fornt of the door. easy, linear, very easy to change out as struts go soft. This note is from Jack...

    R C R 917's and a 962

Good point, I have the plexiglass SL-C windshield in TX and no one has bothered to ask about it. Certain states don't inspect windshields. It's funny tho, the inspection stickers peal off plexi, I guess they were expecting glass. Another use for 3M tape....

    Tech

My stock crate harness was basically wrapped in corregated tubing then standard electrical tape. High tech. I took my drive by wire out by cutting 1 foot of electrical tape from the harness, pulling out the DBW then rewrapping the harness with 3m electrical tape. Ive got the LS376 so after...

    Re-sealing a 2/3 piece rim

I saw where prosoco di9 was used to take off silicone adhesive, but it looks to have a little phosphoric and sulfonic acid. that woudl probably eat into the Al a bit but might turn the silicone into goo where you can take it off with elbow grease. Silicone is a great adhesive so even if there...

    Luggage Space in a SLC

Huh, that bitch, she's after the steaks. Not my wife, the dog. Dog's been for a ride though, you gotta love Al interiors.

    Luggage Space in a SLC

You can get an entire shopping cart into an SlC. Birthday cake, 2x4 sheets of plywood 2x4 by 6' too. Theres tons of room in the passenger footbox and right/left of the seats. It just depends on how bad you wanna drive the car.
