Best practices for keeping heat in header pipes?

One of the recommendations heard often is to wrap the headers with fiberglass tape. My experience is that it greatly accelerates rusting.

    Chuck's Jaguar D Type Build

If the surface of a piece of aluminum gets some scars, don't worry- just go over it with an orbital sander using 600 grit abrasive and a little water for lubricant. This leaves a nice pattern and it is also good preparation for applying primer if you choose.

    Edge protection

Edges of sheet metal present sharp edges that can cut skin, chafe wires and fluid lines. I have found an easy way to protect these edges from doing damage and also presenting an attractive appearance. A push-on grommet made by Spring- Fast works perfectly for this application. I'll attach a...

    Hello from New Zealand

FYI- "...schedule 80 x 7/8 tube..." "Schedule 80 is usually used to specify pipe sizes; tubing is usually specified by its outside diameter and wall thickness in the US. NZ may have a different convention.

    Chuck's Jaguar D Type Build

If you have access to a 4" to 6" belt sander I think you would find that it works better than the disc type. Whichever you use, see if you can find 3M "Cubitron" abrasive. It is an oriented ceramic that has very sharp grains and wears very slowly. I found that it is the absolute best for metal...

    Electric or mechanical water pump?

If it were my project, I would design my own PID controller & PWM driver. I haven't followed the market as to what is available but a good system will be dependent on the sensor temperature/resistance slope and the thermal time constant of the coolant system. It is an engineering challenge...:)

    Electric or mechanical water pump?

This looks like a nice electric water pump but the lookup table controller is not the way I would do it (it's the design engineer in me). A pot that sets a desired coolant temperature, a coolant temperature sensor, and a PID controller with a PWM output would be my choice, Set the pot to the...
