Free entry to Britcar 24 Hours at Silverstone

Nice one Malc - great result and great write-up - thanks for taking the time... I assume we will get some 'in-car' footage at some point too... ?

Free entry to Britcar 24 Hours at Silverstone

:lol::lol: I deserved that I guess... Malc did very well but I'll let him spill the beans on that... I was there with CT RACING, providing support to their Motec system and we had a good run really, despite a throttle cable breakage, a caliper coming loose and being down on power due...

    289/302-Wet or Dry sump Best?

Hi Doug - Nope - with a dry sump system, the drive to the pump is removed. It is a small hexagonal quill shaft from the bottom of the distributor, so removing the quill, removes drive to the pump. For what it's worth, we used to monitor the oil pressure on Roy Smart's GTD40 and when...

    My SL-Razor has arrived...

Agreed - throttle sensor could give problems but still not sure how that alone would rev it to the limiter with throttle fully closed, the air required has to come from somewhere..

    My SL-Razor has arrived...

A faulty MAP sensor will adversely affect fuelling for sure but I've never seen one cause it to rev to the limit. Are you sure there is nothing holding the throttle plate open at all? or even partly? i.e. the throttle is actually closing fully when the pedal is not pressed? IF the motor rev's...

Welcome Mike - you've definitely found the right place to gen up on all things GT40 as there's a load of great material on here and lots of very knowledgeable users. Try to use the search function before you post what you think might be an obvious question but similarly do not be afraid to...

    Horse power ,what horse power

Been discussed before Keith and it's a bit like comparing Shetland ponies and Shires...:lipsrsealed: Just kiddin' and like a lot of things in life, it's not necessarily what you've got, more how well you use it..

    crossover exhaust question

Re: What material to use? I seem to remember Janspeed in the UK saying that stainless systems are generally reckoned to be 2-3db louder than similar items made from mild steel. So if anticipated noise is going to be an issue, then mild steel is often preferred. I'm sure someone will be...

    Libya....

Hmm - I thought that too but the BBC thing seems to say that a .303 falls at about 300m/s and you can be killed by one travelling at 200m/s. Also, I seem to remember an event last year in the US? where a child died in a church after being hit by a falling round fired elsewhere in the...

    Libya....

Watching the events unfold in Libya, one thing has stood out to me more than anything else. The amount of ammunition being fired and normally in any direction in gay abandon. I wonder how many 'friendlies' have been injured by the cavalier way in which they seem to blast away all the time...

    8 stack noise

Wear foam earplugs.... works just great! Also seems to allow all mechanical noise to get through, so you can hear whats going on (right or wrong) without being deafened by induction roar... oh - and worth a second or so off your lap times on track... Win win win...

    Jokes anyone? -

Re: CATS... Nicked from another forum I frequent but made me chuckle... We were dressed, and ready to go out for the New Years Eve Party. We turned on a night light, turned the answering machine on, covered our pet parakeet, and put the cat in the backyard. We phoned the local cab company...

    GT40 Highspeed Behaviour

Just to add my 5c, I've driven Roy Smart's MK1 GTD40 to 183.6mph (laser and GPS verified) on a standing 1.2 miles and it was still pulling hard. Revs were at about 6600 as I recall and steering did not feel at all bad. The car was not particularly set for speed, although it did have a slightly...

Another RCR GT40 through the IVA

Hi John, car is looking great and I bet you can't wait for it to be completed now. Great choice in Terry at Speedwell, he has an enviable reputation for 'getting things sorted' and to a high standard too. So what are you going to do with all the SPACE in your garage now till you...
