    Is 1" too big??

Personally I think 1" is more than you will need in almost every application...unless you do Semi tractor work. I have never needed anymore than a good 1/2" impact. I do have a 1/2 to 3/4 adapter for a BMW gland nut socket, but the 1/2 " breaks it loose with ease. I may completely wrong on this...

Today I was saved by my smoke alarm!

That is a very good question, one I'd like to know. I need a new dishwasher and that sounds like one I might avoid.

    SPF at the drag strip

You are absolutely right. I was was assuming that he may have had some quicker shifts etc. if he had had a quicker reaction. That doesn't , however, help in a race, regardless of ET. Except in bracket racing, first to the end wins.

    SPF at the drag strip

Hey Jack, pretty good go for the first time... a little slow on the reaction time..that would have given an even quicker ET. From the speed at the 1000' mark and the 1/4 mile speed, it does appear that you may have lifted right at the end.

    New 40 bodies?

I almost looked at the site until I saw all the responses. I looked at it last year sometime and thought that maybe they had produced a new one. From the comments, that I would second, it sounds like the same oddball one. Even Fiberfab didn't pretend that there car was a "GT40 replica". I think...

    A cool bit of engineering.

As someone that has disabled people in the family, my son is paralyzed from the waist down and my wife is an invalid from cancer taking her, I think you are mistaken regarding stalled technology...unless you only consider computers technology. If the concept was about helping THOSE individuals...

    A cool bit of engineering.

I wonder how long it takes something like that to make those skinny women into obese cows? They ought to sell well in the U.S. where we love to buy anything that is guaranteed to make us overweight. I hate crap like that. But the sooner those lazy ass people get fat and have heart attacks the...

    Historic Fortyfication Posted Today

Seems pretty clear, I interpreted it as 2 different topics when it would really be 2 mediums. Thanks for unfogging the brain cells.

    Historic Fortyfication Posted Today

That would seem to imply that the cars were painted some other way than spraying, or am I missing something in regards to the paintwork??

    CAV and BBF engine

Although "reliable" is a subjective term...and being a longtime FE lover...I think that the newer technology of the Windsor probably gets the nod. I mean the selection of components available makes what is available for the FE seem pale by comparison..and then there is the cost per inch/HP. I...

    CAV and BBF engine

I guess 150% wasn't enough. After you point it out, I can just see the center vertical intake bolts though...even without the enlargement.

    CAV and BBF engine

I knew it was a Genesis block but when a Roush salesman denied it, while set up within 10 yards of the Genesis booth, a fist fight nearly broke out. The Roush guy had made several disparaging comments, including that they were junk, and the owner of Genesis went ballistic. It seems he does all...

    CAV and BBF engine

I can't tell enough from the pic but believe that is indeed a Roush FE 427. Roush does offer an FE 427 engine as well as the 351 based version. They offer it in carbed or injected versions. I would side with the FE suggestion. I have had some in depth discussions with the Roush folks about their...

Help me identify what I've acquired please

It's definitely a VW front suspension, can't tell if it is link or balljoint with the tires on, but a trailing arm VW for sure. EDIT; I see Tom beat me to it.

Help me identify what I've acquired please

What is it worth.... I think the wheels are the most valuable part. It is done up pretty nicely, I have purchased 2 within the last year. One was probably in similar condition and was drivable, the other has never been finished. Oddly enough they cost about the same. One came from Ca., the...

    DAX40 Return to the Road

I just caught this thread and if you are asking if that block has bosses for the stock roller cam spider, It sure looks like it to me. In some later posts you are talking about a retro fit kit, you shouldn't need one, just the stock stuff. It looks like someone has "retro" or is that "reverse"...

    Note to Conservatives

Re: Note to Concervatives There are 2 implications in that statement that I find totally objectionable. One is that the only way to serve your country is in the military. I did, but feel there are other uses of our young besides fodder in some poorly conceived agressive act. Secondly, that...
