Hi
Well I finally got to test my GTD at Ascari with the Gurney Weslake fitted. The car performed very well (so thanks Jeff and Frank at Wealden Engineering) - in fact the instructor who also sets up cars at Ascari said that it was the "best car he had driven at Ascari" and much more fun than...

Unfortunately I now have to cancel because of the issues with the volcanic ash cloud. I cannot get a flight out there, and even if I could get there, I might get stranded which would be even worse.
Have a great time!

1. Engine displacement: 364cu.in. or 6.0 litres 4.125 x 3.400
2. Crank & rods are Eagle

4. Cam is the nearest thing out of the Comp Cams catalogue to the Crane cam Cushman used, which seemed to work OK, but was not in reusable condition.

First of all let me say I am not an engine expert. However, what I can tell you is that three different engine builders warned me about issues with using the Dart block. They all said that when they are sorted they are fine, but they require a lot of work (and expense) to get them to...
For those of you who recall the fact that, from this thread, I decided to build a Gurney Weslake engine for my GTD....and the many issues that I had with Jay Cushman who did the initial (poor) build, I am pleased to say the engine is now back in my GTD thanks to Peter Knight at Knight Racing...
The engine finally got sorted out using Peter Knight of Knight Racing in Daventry. As you can see from the photos that Frank has posted, it looks great. I will post more photos once the installation back in the car is finished.
There was no more contact from Jay Cushman and it cost me...
Personally I would ship them in from Vintage Wheels (15"). I have three sets of them (not for sale, I use them for different tyre sets as I race) and they look totally authentic. I have never had any issues with them and the service from the company is first rate.

Presumably you are just doing Sloc and Llhergy Frissell or are you going to do Govenors Sprint at night in the dark, with the usual chaos that it entails?
Thanks
Martin
Unfortunately not - see other thread under problems with Jay Cushman to see the latest on the Gurney Weslake saga. The good news is that most of the reworking has been done now by Knight Racing - they are about to dry sump it.
Cheers, Martin
No my problems are not sorted at all. I do not get any response from Jay. But given all the previous broken promises, I have just moved on to someone I know will deliver what they promised (Peter Knight). Most of the remedial work has now been carried out by Peter and Frank Catt and I am...
