Steve’s Active Power GEN II Coyote GT40

Thanks George. What actually is the definition of a scratch build? I’ve heard the term many times but I’m not sure what is considered a scratch build?

Some more of the finished motor. Some small details left to do, but I’m basically done with the motor.

Steve’s Active Power GEN II Coyote GT40

Body came today. I have a lot of work to do but I’m looking forward to learning and building. The body is a splash mold from an original 1966 car. I bought it off of Ted Laird who is a known enthusiast. A splash mold (from what I’m told) is a mold that was created to just make a couple of...

    Miami Active Power Build

Hi George. The build is not going as fast as yours, but I finally got my body today. It’s a bit rough and will need a ton of work to make it fit, but I’m pumped I got this from Ted Baird who says that this is a splash mold from an original 40. From what I understand a splash mold is a mold...

Hey George, nice job. What fuel sender and vents are you using?

    Coyote Fuel System

I’m back to being confused. I reached out to Chris at Active Power where I bought the chassis and gas tanks from and he said the the best way is to use a single in tank pump like the fitech 40015 that I’ve shown and an equalizer line between the pumps. That’s what he’s used with his cars with...

WOW, looks like this would eliminate the need for a swirl tank.

    Coyote Fuel System

Thanks Ian, Two more quick questions, is there some sort of switch to select one tank over the other or do the solenoids control the flow? And secondly, what type of low pressure pump are you suggesting? Again, I can’t thank you enough Steve

    Coyote Fuel System

Ian, THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU. I think this is a great plan. I agree that without baffles or traps in the tanks, a swirl tank is absolutely necessary. A few questions, I’m not familiar with the solenoids, what do they do and are they electric or mechanical? What solenoids do you...

    Coyote Fuel System

I guess a swirl tank is necessary with tanks without baffles. Good point. Back to the drawing board I go...

    Coyote Fuel System

So I think I’ve settled on this system. The Fitech 40015 to an in-line filter to the fuel rail to a fuel regulator then back to the tank like the attached diagram. I’m going to use a small 6an line to connect the two sinks to level the fuel. All agree?

Damn George, that dash looks awesome! Where did you get the padding?

I think the 40015 will work also.

    Coyote Fuel System

There isn’t, but I could easily install one. Thanks for the advice.

I was looking at the fitech also. So an internal pump, in-line filter and no return? That should do it? Then all I’ll need is a crossover line. Does that make sense?

    Coyote Fuel System

Thanks Mark. Everything I read when using a new Engine Control Pack, says that you need a return line. Maybe I’m just over thinking this.

    Coyote Fuel System

Thanks Don, must have been so cool owing an original MKII. I’m a huge fan of the aggressive stance. I’ll take a look at your suggestions. A crossover line may work well but I’m a little confused as to the mounting. I assume you’d have to tap the tanks low in the valley of the tank to make sure...

Steve’s Active Power GEN II Coyote GT40

Very nice. The reason I didn’t do that is because I was 100% set on using the “bundle of snakes” exhaust. If I went the way you’re going, my air intake would be where the headers are. Huge Pantra fan btw... It took a long time trying to figure this out. It was trial and error. Peter, I was...

Thanks Jim. My tanks are already made and they don’t have doors, but your system may still work. Any chance you could draw what you did and post a picture of it?
