    Rumbles SLC Build

People are going to need sunglasses when you open the rear clam - that looks amazing! Dave L

    SLC Coolant Tank Group Buy?

Allan - That looks great! Thanks for posting the mounting photo. Folks, remember there's very little stress on the mounting screws other than the weight of the tank and coolant. The screws can be relatively small and 4 or 5 should be plenty. Bill - Your tank won't go anywhere! Dave L

    Steering Wheel Adapters

Rob - Hard to tell but that could be the case. Being that my SLC will be a street car I'd kind of like to have the horn button on the steering wheel. Fran - Will the clock ring fit on the early columns? Thanks, Dave L

    Steering Wheel Adapters

Here's a picture of the steering column in my SLC. Obviously, it's missing the clock spring that Ken clarified in his build log. The spline adpater is definitely welded to the column. My SLC came with the adapter from Sweet Manufacturing. Regards, Dave L

    Steering Wheel Adapters

I need to look more closely at my early column/quick release to see how they're attached. However, steering is REALLY important (right up there with brakes!) so I'd prefer that the steering wheel hub/wheel be securely fastened (welded) to the column. Dave L

    SLC Aftermarket Seat Option

Ruth - You are correct, it was the FRP (medium) that I tried. It wouldn't surprise me that the reclining NRG is similar (identical?) to the Bride seat. However, even if they look similar I would say the quality of a "true" Bride seat (made in Japan) would be significantly better than NRG. One...

    Transaxle mounting

Time may prove that I made a mistake but my plan is to solid mount the LS3, adapter plate, and top of the Ricardo (using RCR supplied tabs and mounting plate) to the chassis.......someday, when I get to that point ;-) Dave L

    Transaxle mounting

Fran - I'm curious, does this hold true for the Ricardo? I haven't installed the extra bracket to the "X" frame yet - is it not needed? Thanks, Dave L

    SLC Aftermarket Seat Option

Ruth - I haven't measured them but I looked at the seats in an older Miata and it appeared the seat bottom cushion/frame would be too tall. I haven't checked the seats in a new Miata. Regards, Dave L

    SLC Coolant Tank Group Buy?

Folks - All of the tanks have now been spoken for. I will not be producing more. However, I will make the CAD file available and provide a parts/supplier list. Perhaps someone else will be interested in organizing a group purchase since doing a single tank is somewhat cost prohibitive...

    SLC 007 Dave Lindemann

Moderators - feel free to move this thread. I actually had some time to work on the SLC today and even though I wasn't able to accomplish much - I had fun - and that's what it's all about in my book. My hope was to finish opening up all of the body openings/fiberglass cutting since the...

    Hydraulic lift question

As with most any machining, volume helps a great deal with cost. Once they get the machine set up correctly they can buzz through the parts. Machining 1 or 2 is cost prohibitive but doing 20 becomes economical. Regards, Dave L
