And so it begins...the AP build.

Thanks Joe for such a detailed response! Now I have some measurements to go by. It will also save me the embarrassment of getting caught at the reunion with a measuring tape sizing up someone’s car LOL!

And so it begins...the AP build.

Hard to tell from a variety of kits and me working with an “original” splash mold that needs some modification for my scratch build, but did/do your sill panels have a slight curve to them or are they pretty much straight from end to end along the top edge? One of mine looks to be straighter...

    Scratch build MK IV

I chased a belt squeal for months…my final fix was buying a Goodyear versus trying 2 “other” common brands from the big box stores.

Love my WILDFIRE lift…what a great deal. Awesome car and should sell quickly.

    Classic HorsePower Scratch GT40

Finally committed to fusing of the rear spider sides to the roof panel. Started with final shaping of the filets and a couple screws to hold things in place at the proper angles and such. Then I mixed Silica powder to thicken the epoxy resin into a ziplock bag to make it easier to apply as a...

Reproducing Clear Airbox and Velocity Stacks

Obviously the side ports on the air boxes would need to be custom height/location to each particular car for proper alignment. Is that something you are making adjustable with each unit or would it be a one time cut to fit the right positioning of the air inlets? Totally awesome work BTW and...

And so it begins...the AP build.

Looks very similar to what I have facing me ahead and was thinking the same direction as you have done. Well done and it will all be worth the extra effort in the end. Keep at it…it’s like eating an elephant, just take one bite at a time.

    Classic HorsePower Scratch GT40

By the way, who else from here is going to the Texas Spring Cobra Meet?? I’ve seen a GT40 or two in attendance over the years and hope to meet some of you there and in person.

    Classic HorsePower Scratch GT40

That’s my plan…registration hoping by end of Feb or March and a few miles before the trip south!

    Classic HorsePower Scratch GT40

Thanks! Not sure on a GT as all the pics I’ve seen have been non-wood as I remember.

    Classic HorsePower Scratch GT40

Should be back to the GT40 before too long…just the trunk lid and fine tuning left then the registration process.

    Classic HorsePower Scratch GT40

Been a little bit since my last update. However, it hasn’t been for a lack of working on my projects, just hasn’t been on the 40. My Cobra replica has been the priority as it’s close to being graduated to a daily driver or at least cruiser status soon as spring is just around the corner. It...

Happens to me too, so I edit and resize the image and it seems to fix it.

    Porsche Boxter box

That’s what I’m going to use in my build but it is the Boxster S, 6 speed so it will be stronger and different gearing from the stock (less durable) base version. I saw many years ago that someone did an LS V8 swap into a Boxster S and seemed to be holding up to the HP & torque of that motor...

    Rick's Active Power GT40 Build

Still thinking of forward mounting my battery in this spot as well for weight distribution and rear space.

Just my 2 cents, I thought I would need longer end links like those but ended up adjusting to ones that are about 170mm/6.7” to keep the ends further away from my wheels in lock to lock steering extremes. Your sway bar looks very similarly mounted to mine.

    Blind Guy TV - 1965 Ford GT40

Love this Andrew! Great info and update to what you are doing there in the UK. I’ll admit I’m a bit envious of you working with some of the “original” stuff where here in the US and with my budget I’m happy to finally make progress on a scratch build space frame chassis and replica parts...
