    Classic HorsePower Scratch GT40

A few milestones this week on the GT. 1) the final wheels and tires are mounted & balanced 2) the emergency/parking brake is functionally connected and complete 3) the suspension is complete including the air cup lift system (just need permanent electric) and aligned for final bodywork 4) the...

    P/1000-W for sale

Bill, I think you are right on the money. That rear window doesn’t look original nor period, seats, steering wheel, gauges, etc. Lots of things don’t look right for that money.

    What was happening here?

I thought I read that they had tire clearance issues when the suspension was compressed on those tight turns and was hitting the bodywork and slowing the car down? If you notice it was only cut out on the drivers side due to the weight of the driver and probably mostly tight left hand turns.

Me too. It shouldn’t be too long before the motor goes back in and I’ll have to see what will need to be done to cut a relief and fab for the water pump hump. I estimate it to be about the size of a large coffee cup but will see soon enough. I’m contemplating carburetor options now and...

    Classic HorsePower Scratch GT40

Adrian, the panels are approximately 4.5” (inside face) with a single 76mm hole centered 2.5” above the base (1” of metal below hole) then a 63 degree bend to mimic the dash profile to a 6” wide base facing the inside door panel. The two smaller holes are 30mm with about 3/4” of metal below...

Yes…front and rear. Thus the reason for 17’s, I would have preferred 15s for original look but brake and tire choices plus the added expense and time to make lowered spindles and everything necessary to make it all work were more than I wanted to deal with. LOL I’ve had way too many challenges...

Thoughts on a side mirror alternative

Yes! Almost exactly what I was thinking but the aircraft mirrors would be more vertical.

Thoughts on a side mirror alternative

BTW, I am already planning for a rear camera utilizing the center rear view mirror as well so just seeing if these would really add anything to backing into parking or passing awareness too. I am bringing a few other things from my aviation background like the circuit breakers and covered...

Thoughts on a side mirror alternative

For those that have tried different side mirrors and ways to “check 6”…what are your thoughts on maybe using an aircraft canopy mirror just inside the side window on the door A pillar? Being a military pilot, I know they are of limited use but would help just to check that blind spot before...

What are folks using for oil in their 427FE Side Oilers?

Agree on the high oil temp…I even have an oil cooler and 9qt pan just for that reason as well.

What are folks using for oil in their 427FE Side Oilers?

Looking for what oil type and weight folks are using in their 427FE side oiler. Mine runs great oil pressure 40psi+ when cold but about 5psi at idle when hot (comes up to 15-20psi at speed & increasing RPMs). With an oil change due and hot Texas summers approaching, I want a better oil...

    Gurney Weslake head gaskets

Those look like manifold gaskets. Like Ben said, I would think that normal SBF head gaskets should work but haven’t seen the underside of the heads in person.

Facet fuel pumps, fabricated & installed bulkhead mount, and figured out which AN fittings to order and make it all work in the confined space. Ordered the fuel filter/ pressure regulator and spend the rest of my time figuring out how to mount all the required equipment for the air system into...

And so it begins...the AP build.

I’ve got an almost identical setup with my 347 & KEP starter. I’m curious how this works for you and how their stock Hilux starter compares once we both get to that point. Good work at sourcing it! Devin

    Inner front fenders yes/ no

Dr. Bob Wood also noted on his radiator research paper that there is cooling benefits to doing this as well to keep the air flow clean and directed back out the nostrils of the front hood. I am doing this as well for both reasons. Devin

    Ford 302 Thermostat recommendation

Rick, do you have a way to test those radiator caps or a reliable brand? I learned to test those thermostats from my dad years ago (1980s) when we first saw Cheapanese stuff causing issues.

Factory five and A-C cobra build

I contacted him and claims to be at an address in TN that frankly was just a house with no storage or shop on the property (seemed sketchy). I also noticed a couple of his referenced pics had clues of European sources…Euro electric plugs on the work bench, signs in the background, etc. I would...

Basics of a project car information

Michael all good points and would add make it maintainable & or adjustable. So many new vehicles are designed by engineers that don’t think about having to replace that part someday and how to make that happen. The adjustable part is a rule of custom building as nothing is ever symmetrical or...
