Pilot bearing engagment issue for Porsche boxes

Thanks for the responses guys! I just spoke to Kennedy and it looks like I've been sent the wrong part. They sent me the old school SBC adapter which has the same OD as the LS versions so it's easy to confuse, luckily I didn't just install it. The LS version measures 0.650" so about 0.130"...

Pilot bearing engagment issue for Porsche boxes

Hey guys, I'm running into an issue with the input shaft to pilot bearing engagement depth. I'm using the G96.50 which is identical (AFAIK) to all G50 variants in the bell housing/clutch interface measurements. So I'm sure many others have dealt with what I'm noticing here. The issue is I'm...

    SLC 24 Howard Jones

Looks like you have the same 2.5" wheel studs judging by the part number. There is a typo on the package indicating 1.50" when it's trying to say 1.5 thread pitch, the ones I got had the same error.

    SLC 24 Howard Jones

I'm using the same 2.5" ARP studs that are popular with everybody here #100-7708 don't think any shorter would make sense. There is no way to take those bolts out short of cutting them, I spent 30 minutes trying different ways. The extra 1/4" that they stick out is the deal breaker. I ended up...

    Pete B's Build Thread

Pete, If you're going to go with Bill's approach for WP outlet I would recommend this silicon elbow from turbo hoses. Not cheap at $50 but it makes the tightest turn possible. 90 Degree Silicone Hose Bend, Silicone Hose, Silicone Hoses

    SLC 24 Howard Jones

Thanks for the write up on wheel stud upgrade Howard. Your advice worked great on the fronts but it's a no go for the rears. I believe RCR has switched to longer bolts that hold the bearing carriers in place. I was not able to remove those bolts, I thought about buzzing off the excess threads...

    G96.50 Trans-axle Fluid

Mike, the fill hole sits at about the 35% vertically so when the trans is inverted it's significantly higher at about 65%, no way you'd want to fill to that level. I posed your second question to GBOX and CMS and they both recommend putting in exactly 3.8L (a gallon is close enough if that's...

    Luggage Space in a SLC

The passenger seat is only fastened with 4 bolts, easy to take out and put back, imagine how much space you gain. You can built a custom bolt down box that drops in it's place. I honestly can't think of many occasions where I'd have a passenger.

    Battery Drain Protection

How about a disconnect switch with a 10A fused bypass for ECM memory. The ECM battery line draws very little power, don't think you'll have to worry about it doing much damage. If you track the car the disconnect switch can be a nice safety feature and if there are no class rules to worry...

    Coolant Plumbing

Point well taken on the sharp 90s Howard, it's definitely not optimal. My reasoning was I could save two weld joints that could become failure points, additionally I see everybody doing the sharp turn coming out of the water pump. I think I'm going to commit to this design for now and see how...

    Coolant Plumbing

Here's what I did and the work was a lot easier than I imagined. I bought 15" long mandrel bends (they normally come 12" long) which allowed a direct connection from the 45* to the front 90* bend saving the additional weld joint. The pipes were already beaded on both ends so I just cut the...

    Fuel System

I see the fuel shut off valve in pics 5 & 6 (wonder what brand that is) but I also noticed there is a hard line from fuel tank to the chassis mounted fuel filter. I would think that should be a flex line since the tank is setup to float.
