Flywheel. Ford 302 short block . GTD

Just in case you don`t know the Ford V6 flywheel used was the Essex V6, not the Cologne V6, as used in 3 litre engine cars like early Capri`s and early Granada`s, cheers, Kev

    Original GT40 B pillar

The original KVA was the same as the original 40 and GTD started using the modified B pillar and door shape after Ray Christopher did some deal with Ford to make his GTD cars different from Fords original. That is how I remember it.

    A blast from the past

Nice to see some old special saloons that I remember. The blue/yellow mk2 RS2000 with ABP sponsorship was my mate Bob Trotter`s car. He died a few years ago so nice to remember old friends, cheers Mike

    GTD brake upgrades

Hi Aaron Mike is right about Granada uprights and discs on the front but I was wondering if you mean the first GTD with their own chassis or the first GT40 they did? They started off converting early KVAs using their own sub frames, again using Granada brakes all around, discs on the front and...

    Lola T70 Mk3B (replica) tyres

Hi see my reply above. My wide body 40 might accommodate those sizes as I had tried to get similar ones when I built it, Kev Farrington

Appropriate tyre sizes fro road legal Lola T70 Mk3B opportunity

Hi that sounds interesting. Depending on cost, I would like to know more, Kev Farrington

    A rare opportunity

For what its worth our local GT40 club leader, Pete Thompson, has a GT40 built with a chassis constructed very much like the original T70. It was built for racing but he`s used it as a road and track car with a 7 ltr Ford engine. It has survived much better than I originally thought it would so...

KVA GTD (C) 351W in bits in the shed

Hi the photos are of the early KVA with GTD subframes welded on which was how GTD first started making GT40s. They did a bolt on front subframe as an alternative if you preferred. My car is built using GTD suspension mounted on my own subframes on the same early KVA. Hope this helps, Kev Farrington

    Comparative gear ratios in UN1-013 & UN1-07

You probably know but I thought I`d mention the Alpine GTA? is rear engined like a 911 so the diff has to be turned around or the gearbox inverted like mine was done many years ago. The bellhousing is shaped so the diff can be swapped around with no clearance issues.

    Throttle Cable

For what its worth I had a stiff cable issue once after being in heavy traffic and it got seriously hot. It was so extreme I couldn't use the throttle at all and had to drive home on a fast tickover. A change of cable and better heat insulation over exhaust manifold cured it. Probably nothing...

    Roundel Lights

Hi, The answer depends on whether the car/team was UK based or USA based I think. British teams mostly used (I think) Lucas lamps like those used as MGB number plate lamps. They were fitted to other cars as well and are still available new. I fitted them on my car, 1075 replica. Hope this helps

    Inverting Renault Gearbox

Hi guys, I am happy to tell anyone how I did it if you want to contact me. It was a long time ago and it will test my memory.

    Renault UN1 transaxle, everything

Hi again, Inverting the Renault box makes it turn the wrong way so you have to turn the diff the opposite way. The exception to this is the Alpine GTA because it is rear engine, like Porsche 911 so turns the correct way in a 40 when inverted. I inverted mine when lowering the engine to fit IDAs...

    Renault UN1 transaxle, everything

For what it`s worth I inverted my Renault box back in the late 80s/early90s and it works fine.

    SouthernGT No6

Hi Nick, You might be joking about turning it the right way but I bought some hubs etc from Furbers near Market Drayton a few years ago and the guy who removed them didn't realise one side thread was the opposite way and stripped it completely. I don't know how he managed to do it, Kev

    What's it worth...KVA Mk1 Early Chassis

Hi, the early KVA is a good car if you want it for road use but needs a few mods to be a track car. The original GTDs were early KVAs with new sub frames and suspension links fitted so you can make a good car out of it. The body will be fairly accurate too. The roof, doors and cills were moulded...

    Rear wheel bearings

Hi, sorry to state the obvious but one side turns clockwise and the other side anticlockwise. I only mention it because a unit I had removed in a scrapyard was wrecked by their mechanic/employee.
