I recall those days also Mike. Rumor has it Bill Warner raised prices to limit the "riff-raff" factor. Whether true or not I'm unsure. All I know is its a wonderful event that all car lovers should attend if given a chance.

Met Dan Gurney at Amelia Island....he was always willing to give anyone his time and he could light up a room when he smiled. A true loss of a great man in Motorsport.

John, I think I mentioned to you its my understanding you own the first CAV (#82) built by Jean after he took over. Lucky you!

I visited the CAV factory a few years back and met both Jordi and Jean. At the time it appears Jordi had scaled the operation back into a smaller building where a small team kept the flame alive. During my visit I took photos of Walt Williams car which was under construction at the time...

Really enjoyed watching a 40 being driven hard by a pro. The commentary added to my enjoyment as well. He did all he could to give insight to what its like to drive at speed right down to "take a breath" while on the straight and "check your gauges." Thanks for posting this.
